Unfortunately when I got to the store I discovered it was not $59.99 but $69.99, so it was even more than I was complaining about. FML
So far I am enjoying it. Getting a head on the ball isn't so tough anymore. My corners and crosses work better than in 10. I don't feel like I'm getting cheated all the time now that they call fouls when you get clipped. However sometimes you can run right at a guy, take the ball, and get whistled for seemingly nothing. Note to self--don't charge guys anymore. Player faces and models are really, really good. The crowd still looks like shit but they aren't focusing on it anymore which is a good idea. Load times between career mode games can be looooooong. Still a pain in the ass to load a save. Have to go through like eight menus. The named referees adds a little something to the game. Better not to have real ones I suppose. Don't mind the new passing tweaks. Sometimes I don't pass it perfectly but that is fine, more realistic. Still getting used to it. A little easier to retain ball control. This is important. Still too many pass intercepts. Not as easy to get clear of a defender on a break. They'll catch you. Still better to have 2-on-1 than 1-on-goal. Keepers are better, more aggressive. Come out to break up long lead passes. So far I like the improvement. Penalty kicks are a bit strange. Still figuring those out. Free kicks are a bit easier to pull off. Still tricky to get a head on a long goal kick. Simming takes a long time. Commentary is getting stale. I'm going to get a lot of play out of it.
Something minor, but I'm glad Messi is no longer the same height as Jerome boateng . That irked me last year
I've been checking out the online creation center, and it's pretty sweet. I'm trying to create a realistic Timbers team also. You gotta keep it real, ya know!
And what about scouting players? I'm glad they removed the daily in/out money after every game, but why'd they remove making the stadium larger/scouting/negotiators? It's almost impossible resigning players.
BTW, if you use ANY created players in career mode..... they are always "maxed" out on expirience and dont get any better even if they are like 17 yrs old
I won the FA and the Carling in career mode but didn't get credit for it. No team of the season? Player awards? Hopefully they patch some of the stuff we're talking about here soon.
maybe a quesiton for Speeds or Ronan... but is Cesc absolutely killing it for you guys too in Career mode? Last year I had to move him to a Winger a lot to get his assists and some goals, but I have him as his CAM position now and through 6 games he has 3 goals and 4 assists. Seems like Midfielders are more included in the attack this year than just Strikers and wingers.
Let me get this straight, so their is no way to build the players stats up? It's not like virtual pro where if you do certain accomplishments he will get better? The characters stats are set in stone?
My first season he was ok, I think Fabregas finished with six or seven goals, about the same number of assists, and had a rating somewhere in the low 7s. My goals were pretty evenly split between the forwards with Chamakh getting 25, RVP 21, and Arshavin 17. Finished the BPL season in first (treble, no champions league) with 93 goals. Funny that I won the treble considering my starters didn't play in cup games. Going to have to go up a notch from pro to world class I think. I changed the default formation from 4-3-3 to 4-1-2-1-2. I have Koscielny in for Squillaci and I purchased a new keeper (Akinfeev). I have Song as a holding midfielder, Arshavin on the left mid, Fabregas on the right mid, Nasri as the CAM/second striker, Van Persie as a left forward/left striker, and Chamakh as the right striker. Kind of amazing how good the team is when all our fucking players aren't getting treatment every damn game. The roster is really bloated, though. I have 10-12 guys out on loan, sold a few (Almunia, Fabianski, Squillaci, Barazite), and there are still too many guys. The midfield bench is stacked with Rosicky, Diaby, Denilson, Randall, Ramsey, Wilshire, Eboue, etc. Its hard to trim it down when you're a fan and you have sentimental attachment to the players.
LMAO!! I bought Akinfeev as well. I went from the 4-3-3 to a hybrid 4-4-2 but decided I would practice a little more with the 4-3-3 and I'm used to it now. I play World Class cuase I just had it too easy on Pro. The goals are a lot more evenly spread as well through 6 games for me, last year it was all Strikers and Wingers with the Assists and Goals. But I think I have 17 Goals through the 6 games now, And Arshavin has 4 (Hat trick in the last game, although one was off a Penalty) RVP with 3, Chamack with 3, Walcott with 2, Nasri with 1, Cesc with 2, Vela has 1 and Squillaci (sp?) has 1 off a corner. Also yes this team is stacked when healthy, I feel bad I loaned out Bendtner and Ramsey out for the full season (I mainly chose them cause they are hurt now) same with Frimpong. I feel bad for Diaby, he is kind of getting left out of my lineups and Substitutes though. I mainly goe with Akinfeev, Sagna, Vermalean, Koscielny, Cliche, Song, Nasri/Wilshere, Cesc, and Theo and Arshavin as Wingers with RVP as Central Striker. Then My bench usually has Chamakh, Vela, Nasri/Wilshere (whoever didnt start) Rosiscky, Eboue, Squillaci, and an alternating substitute of Gibbs and Djourou. But the emotional attachment makes it difficult to leave some of the others out. Diaby and Denilson usually are in the lineup or bench though when I rest Cesc or Wilshere or Nasri every once in a while, and yes I play them more in Cup games.
You can do the accomplishments in Be A Pro, although I'm not sure if you're in Manager Mode. Surely it should work.
Okay, read that thread and I have a few points to bring up with your complaints (not saying I'm the Fifa god or anything). - There are countless times in a game where you'll be in a foot race with a defender but he will always get the ball. USE THE RIGHT STICK AND HIT THAT SHIT AHEAD OF YOU! Works like a charm, just don't do it too much or the 'keeper will get in yo face. - Use the trick stick no matter how confusing it is. You'll get used to it. Even when you're facing a defender, just flick the right stick to hit it ahead or use a trick. Works better than running into the guy. - If you aren't on World Class already, move up. Best way to get good at the game is to play it at one of the hardest settings (fuck Legendary, that shit is ridiculous). - Don't play 4-3-3. Your wingers up-front will become isolated and basically useless unless you're good as shit taking on defenders. - If you're a 'lower rated' team, crosses and set-pieces are your friends for goals. Their passes won't flow as well as the higher clubs so that tip-tappy shit won't work as well. Whenever you catch any space or a glimpse of goal, take a pop shot. - I usually change my tactics to Attacking just to get more people forward. - The passes are like shots. If you want to do a powerful shot, you don't hold it all the way down or it will be awful. It is the same for passing. If you want a strong pass, don't hold down the A button as it will just be shit. I figured out a way to make the pass more powerful if you hold one of the triggers/bumpers but I forgot. Will have to check it again. - For penalties there is basically an invisible dot in the goal. You need to find the sweet spot and aim it where you want. If you miss the sweet spot your guy will simply hit it wide. Kind of hard to explain. - I've noticed that powering my corner kicks to around 90% gives me the best results. Try it out. Far post ftw. - Make sure you make your three substitutes during every game during MM 'cause the fatigue will show. When Walcott is running the same pace as Carragher you know shit is rough.
