I don’t lose sleep over whether my team is good or bad. It’s scale of importance to me is so little in the grand scheme of things. But, to get absolutely fleeced in a trade and then to read people actually trying to put a cherry on top of the turd of a trade is worthy of getting questioned. oh and I gamble on sports occasionally. Rarely on the Blazers. It’s kind of a weird thing to throw at the wall and hope sticks. This trade has no justification and made my team worse so of course I’m not going to put blind faith in our rookie GM’s blunder.
I'm guessing both those would be on the table. I don't agree that decreasing top end talent is our best path to becoming a contender, but I see your angle.
How did this idiot not have another trade lined up after that shit Clipper trade? Was he not aware of the backlash that he would cause by blatantly gifting Balmer that package? This is John Nash level incompetence - but way worse.
Forget RoCo and the 3 Clipper players, all of whom are NBA irrelevancies. In terms of the Blazers' rebuilding effort, they traded Powell for a 2nd round pick. By contrast, Indy traded LaVert and a 2nd for two seconds and a conditional first. Powell is not a star, he is not special, whatever. Neither is LaVert. Somehow, their difference in value is a first round pick? Bull-Dada. The most charitable spin you can put on this deal is that it will save the Blazers a modest amount of money. Those of you who are rationalizing this deal will have to excuse the majority of fans for whom a decent team on the court is a higher priority. And let us not forget that Jody Allen has no personal financial stake in all this. She runs the team, but does not own it in the traditional sense.
I'm of the belief that if you can't build a team around the best player you've ever had, then the problem isn't the player, it's whoever is building/financing the operation. Along the same lines of why I felt like firing Stotts wasn't addressing the root of the problem.
You see that he couldn't cite one example of this being true? There are other writers (who are still employed) out there who have wrote the exact opposite about Powell's contract. It was too big/long for a role player.
2nd all rookie team and 6 years ago. I feel like there have been many 2nd all rookie team players that have amounted to nothing. I wouldn't hang my hat on something 6 years ago.
6th amongst rookies in voting. So yeah that is 2nd team. It shows he has skills as does the video of him playing last year in Memphis. Not saying he should start, but we always need a good defender on the bench who can actually dribble, pass and score around the basket. None of which RoCo could do as well.
I don't know if anyone has mentioned this yet, but fuck this trade, fuck this guy Cronin, fuck Olshey and Jody. Fuck.
You are equating two different things. One was a summer where we potentially could have improved our supporting cast around Dame. The other is hoping a player that showed a little promise 6 years ago is suddenly going to be something. Not impossible. Just very improbable.
Stopppppp. Having a starting SG at a reasonable deal for 5 years is totally a cancer of a contract! Yeah, that's my spin.
he said that because YOU were telling others to move on. Basically telling them to not post about it anymore….
