I am fairly sure that our ownership situation is going to kill any chances of making changes this season.

Did Nurk just went 1-15 = 2 points? how is this Olshey's fault?

Perhaps because Olshey hasn't fired Stotts and Stotts runs an offense that is guard dominated that to this day this season, has perhaps not yet thrown Nurk an alley oop. Off of penetration.

Meanwhile, someone like Capela with less talent IMO, lives off of alley oop because the coach designs the offense that way and Harden/Paul look for him when they drive all the time. Not on bounce passes at his feet where he has to gather, dribble and then try and finish. Alley oops right at the rim where all the Bosnian Beast has to do is dunk the damn ball.

It's certainly not like Dame/CJ aren't drawing a crowd every time they go to the hoop....

    Yes & no.
Stotts offense has some major design flaws.

However, Nurk is not an alley oop type of player. Even if there was one thrown to him, he has a 4" vertical...

Dame also rarely throws alley oops. He typically prefers the bounce pocket pass - which is usually down by Nurks knees. Some of that could be lack of coaching, but its definitely Dame's inclination to bounce pass.

CJs inclination is just not to pass.

Expecting Portland to get alley oops with this roster just will not happen due to their limitations

If our 2 guards who handle the ball the vast majority of the time are so limited/unwilling to be able to throw an alley-oop pass to any big man when 2-3 defenders converge as they are going to the rim.....

.....then we have a serious problem. It's not that difficult of a skill.

Throwing a good alley oop pass is one of the hardest passes there is, besides maybe behind the back passes. You have to throw a lob apass up, to someone in stride, thats high enough other 7 footers cant get to it but exactly where your team mate is. Its a much harder skill than people make it out to be.
It also takes a really good athlete on the other end who can not just dunk but hang up there long enough to do it.

They should run plays towards the basket though.

But when the 7'er rotates over to Dame/CJ, it's not like there is anyone that big if anyone guarding our Center. Most of the lobs to Capela are uncontested. That makes the pass quite easy.

Harden makes that pass really well and part of it is he’s much taller than our guards. I mean I get what you’re saying. That play Houston runs they run it very well. We havent had a good lob passer since Andre Miller.

Not sure why everyone is so pissed at Olshey. His plan to tank for a lottery pick is going perfectly.

Sadly, the East is so bad, that even if the Blazers fell to #14 in the West, (they are only 2 games away from that spot) they would still only be around #9 or #10 in the overall Lottery. (currently)

No it's not, if it was going perfectly we wouldn't have started 10-3.

Come on. He had to get Dame worn down a bit first.

You have no faith in the powers of the ping pong balls. If there’s a center with bad knees who’s likely to go in the top three, we’re in like Flynn.

Nope, still too early. We don’t pass on the next Jordan or Durant until 2030. It’s pretty simple math:)
