I think the heat is finally on the team to make changes. Dame is putting on historical performances in this series and we're just not good enough. It's becoming PAINFULLY obvious to the rest of the world that this team is mismanaged. I expect a serious shakeup this summer because people are actually starting to say "free Dame."

The rest of the league is finally waking up to how insanely good Lillard is. He has gotten respect and people say he's a great player, but people are FINALLY seeing that this guy is one of the best guards in the history of the league.

Could you imagine Dame playing for New York? He wouldn't even be able to walk down the street in NYC. He would be the most popular person in the state. Oshley let him down.

Will Jody and Chris have what it takes? Or will they be too cheap to let him go because he still has 3 years left on his deal?

We need an objective outside GM who doesn’t have irrational attachments to Simons, cj, little, etc. otherwise cj isn’t getting traded because Neil won’t get the all star player he thinks cj should return.

Bring in SOMEONE with some actual vision, not just complacently sitting at his desk.

Olshey absolutely failed this team. Without Zach, we had no option at the four. No one else to cover Jokic (Kanter is unable to do so). I would like to see him gone more than anyone else.

if he's still the GM thru next season's trade deadline, I'm about 95% certain that at this point next season, Portland will have exited the playoffs in the 1st round, assuming they weren't in the lottery

As if there were any more need for reasons.... but yet again he shows it again today - Olshey needs to go!

it ain't happening anytime soon, especially if he's the one leading the coaching search. think he gets two more years.

Well, if you're right, that's two more wasted years of Lillard's prime.

I would tend to agree with you but, I could see a difference in Neil today. He had to admit that firing Terry meant that everything wasn't what he thought it was. He said he would make a big swing if given the opportunity and he lumped CJ in with the rest of the team instead of setting him apart with Dame.

The unfortunate thing was to here him again say that the foundation of this roster is good enough to build around and win a championship. Hopefully his other comments mean that he has narrowed down who the foundation of this roster is to one player named Dame.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
I'm not sure how true that is. He basically implied that the defensive issues were down to the coach, not the roster he assembled. I worry that he, and the Blazers, are using the firing of Stotts as a hard reset on evaluating this roster. I hope major changes are coming, but I doubt they are--I think Olshey sincerely believes he built a great roster and that Stotts mismanaged it into mediocrity.

I'm fine with getting rid of Stotts, but Olshey has done just as poorly. He's apparently just a superior salesman.

Oh I fucking hate it that Neil was able to save the job he should have lost by sacrificing Terry. I've said all season that if we didn't have the best season under them yet (going to the WCF and winning at least a game) that Neil should be fired first and the new GM should decide about who the head coach would be.

That being said, while I heard what you did about it all being Terry's fault and Neil having done no wrong. As he is prone to do he backtracked on himself and said that he wouldn't be opposed to big roster moves and is always looking for that other star to pair with Dame... a total 180 from the past where he said CJ was that star. He also spent time talking up only two players on this roster Dame and Norm... that was it. So all I'm saying is that Olshey didn't treat CJ like he is what he's been in the past, like one of Olshey's kids.

blazers definitely need someone like daryl morey, a guy whos not afraid to make risky moves

daryl morey gave his all to bring the chip to houston, while olshey is happy with the way we are, being a playoff team and he knows dame is loyal, so he can afford to stand pat

but if he gets the feeling that dame could really ask for a trade, he will go all-in in panic mode and most likely fuck up

and again....I will say I think you are reading way more into tea leaves than your should

Olshey is an asshole but he's not stupid asshole. He knows how a large part of the fan base feels about CJ; he saw how CJ played against Denver; he heard when CJ was booed off the floor. He knew he could not give the same boilerplate praise of CJ he always does. The media would have hammered him and the fans would have hammered harder. The Blazers had just lost in the first round for the 4th time in 5 years. His favorite player had played like shit; his 10th pick in 2017 had missed 2 years of play; and his big off-season signing was parked on the bench. The same post season song and dance wasn't going to work

but I believe he intends to perform the same song and dance this summer

He sure did talk up Norm, a lot and I really don't think we get Norm to sign with CJ here. I guess we'll just wait and see.

I know, and I noticed that too. I hope you're right, but I'm really cynical about Olshey so that darkside thinking says Olshey was trying to butter up Powell because he knows the ramifications if Powell walks.

that press conference struck me, a bit, as Olshey being trapped between arrogance and desperation
