This dude was basically handed a blank canvass when LMA left. He could mold the team however he wanted. This is what we got.

He let LMA go for nothing. He blew the Batum trade and it has been all downhill from there. This guy can't make any excuses about being dealt a shitty hand. He's basically a really shitty Spades player who keeps over estimating what he has.

If he doesn't make any big changes to improve the roster, Dame should kick his ass

There are some key crossroads that Neil just completely fucked up.

LMA - it was obvious he was going to leave. He should have been traded 2 years before his contract was up. Losing him for nothing set this team back substantially. We're still looking for a second star.

Batum - funny how easy it was for him to trade someone that wasn't one of his guys. This trade was a total bust. Vonleh ended up providing us with nothing.

Free agency of 2016 - signing Evan Turner was a massive mistake, along with the huge extensions for Meyers and Crabbe. Just and overall disaster of an offseason.

Drafting Zach Collins - we had three picks in that draft. We should have turned those picks into a veteran player that could contribute. That was the year that Paul George was traded. Instead we traded our picks for a project big man who didn't even start for his college. BRILLIANT MOVE NEIL. And this isn't hindsight. A lot of people were very unhappy with this pick at the time.

The Pelicans series - Stotts should have been fired. Period. That series was a disaster. We had Dame. We had CJ. We had Nurk. We got embarrassed. Stotts should have been gone. Neil didn't pull the trigger.

CJ - despite it being obvious to most people that the Dame/CJ pairing was never going to take us all the way, Neil has refused to trade CJ. Now he's 30 on a huge contract and we HAVE to trade him because he's one of the only pieces we have that we can hopefully move for talent at a position of need.

And this brings us to today. Based on how Neil has handled critical moments in the past nine years, I don't have a lot of faith that he's going to deliver this summer.

Don't get me wrong, i dislike Neil a lot. I agree with what you are saying. But in regards to the Paul George thing, didn't we offer those 3 picks and KP said fuck off? That he didn't want to trade with us? I mean, Oladipo and Sabonis was a great deal for them. I thought i saw something where maybe one of KPs kids even mentioned it on twitter. That KP wouldn't trade George to Portland.

Jimmy Butler is the guy we whiffed on so many times. The guy got moved around over and over again. Hard to believe we couldn't have dealt CJ for Butler at some point. Dame and Butler would be an insane duo.

There was definitely a rumor that KP told us to fuck off. But I'm not sure what exactly we offered either.

At the time the Sabonis/Oladipo trade seemed pretty underwhelming. Not exactly a huge haul. I'm still not sure I'd trade PG for Sabonis even at this stage of their careers and Oladipo ended up being injury prone.

For sure. But man. Sabonis is so good now. Oladipo is injury prone but borderline all star when healthy.

Pretty sure the offer was all 3 first round picks, and their pick of the roster sans Dame/CJ/Nurk.

Seems like a shitty offer, the "other players" would have been salary filler, and terrible ones at that. Basically any one of the bloated 2016 contracts with 2 years left on their deal.

Yeah, letting Aldridge walk for nothing, failing to get Butler while we have duplication at that position, and not having a replacement for Stotts lined up are all fails that I just can't overlook.

2016 was bad. I tried to be optimistic about it, but it turned out bad bad bad. And should have gotten much better value with 3 picks than Collins.

Sigh... Not confident in the impending coaching hire. Olshey is just trying to extend his stay at this point, so Vulcan has way too much leverage.

Sure, but at the time they both looked pretty underwhelming. I remember being pretty pissed when they announced the trade.

And don't forget, we could have drafted John Collins at that spot. Now HE is a player we could really use.

The pick made me so frustrated with Neil.

Not only did we use the picks instead of trading for a veteran, but we drafted a very young project big man. It was the worst thing he could have done. It's like he has had no sense of urgency at all until this season where Dame FINALLY started voicing his displeasure.

This is why I have been saying for a while that this is partially on Dame because he just sat back and let them waste his prime.

Yeah and i think we all thought at that time it would have been Harkless they might want. Or Aminu.

Should have offered CJ and the picks. That was the trade that needed to be made and he wouldn't do it because he did, and maybe still does, think that CJ is a cornerstone.

Pretty sure it would have to be at least two of the shit contracts, or one Evan Turner. George was making 19 million at the time.

Neil wanted Billups knowing exactly how the Portland market would react — they are getting hammered on Twitter.

Allegedly Jody wanted Becky. How did Neil talk Jody into looking past Chauncey’s red flags?

Maybe because Jody herself has sexual misconduct allegations and she can sympathize with someone in that position? (Without speculating as to whether either Jody or Billups are innocent or guilty)

He really threw Dame under the bus as essentially making him the only person that fans could lash out at. This never should have been leaked until Monday.

Mods, can we make an exception to the no swear words in titles and change this to Fire the Fucktard.
