That's an interesting takeaway. I didn't see where Jones defended those other players, mentioned unlimited leash, or said Little should be benched. I read it as him pointing out a short-coming he sees across the league.
Nonsense....I've heard both guys talk about their relationship and there's mutual respect...this is just more soccer mom anti Stotts ranting Stren.....you have company that's for sure. Must suck to be so down on the team all this time. Try and find something here to enjoy....it's better on the heart coming from a guy who almost died two years ago....stress is not your health's friend. Cheer for the guys worth cheering for...we have a team full of them
I don't know who Steve Jones Jr. is, but I disagree. Stotts has received too much credit from some, and too much blame from others bottom line for me is when both an offense and defense don't significantly evolve over 9 years, and both end up failing the same ways, year after year, it's well past time to pull the plug on both management and coaching
I'm glad to hear that but you're still young....it's accumulative Stren.....try balancing it with some enjoyment of basketball...you'll sleep even better ...and when it comes to Dame and Stotts..sorry dude....I think you're wrong there.
Dame not only has bailed Stotts out on the court, but he literally bailed him out from being fired in 2018. Paul Allen was ready to fire Stotts after the Pelicans swept POR in the 1st round. But Dame asked Paul to give him one more season. So Dame is the only reason that Stotts is still here.
I think Neil also likes having a coach that doesn’t get in his way. I don’t remember the last time Olshey actually gave Stotts the roster he wanted (not saying that’s a bad thing because if it were up to Stotts he’d have someone like frank kaminsky as his starting four)
actually that would make Paul Allen the reason Terry is still coach and now his sister ....Paul didn't have to appease anybody...the buck always stopped with Paul...and I think it's great Dame loves his coach...all this hindsight speculation about Stotts being on the hot seat is fan driven here...Dame is part of the reason Stotts is still here...Paul, Neil and Jody are the other reasons other than Stotts is valued by the franchise more than by the S2 forum membership.....we have a healthy locker room and culture. trying to poke holes in it is probably not going to force a coaching change unless it's with ownership ..I don't see any grumbling from that camp...
' Melo and Hood aren't "excellent" on either end of the floor. Dame and Kanter are both good on offense so I guess that fits.
Wow, your career must have been rooted in PR because you can put a spin on anything. And Stotts being on the hot seat is not purely fan driven. https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/25321406/zach-lowe-damian-lillard-portland-trail-blazers-nba
that editorial just says Paul Allen made a decision...with the lobbying of players and for what I believe are commendable reasons...in the end...Paul Allen kept Terry ...but that's an old editorial ..Terry has had a contract extension since then. I'm sure if I googled it I'd find others that agree with you...that's not in my interests at all as a Stotts fan.
So you think he's tweeting that Hood and Melo are exellent by pointing out a mistake Little made? I didn't jump to any conclusions that Jones was talking about others players or that he's implying Little sucks.
What he said makes no sense for several of the players currently in our rotation. I'll leave it at that.
There certainly are other players who might make that mistake. Some players who might know the right read, but lack the physical tools. Little did make a poor read in that exact situation. Doesn't make him the worst player ever, nor does it address other players short-comings. Little certainly isn't above critique, I hope.
Little and Simons both have a pretty short leash, although Simons is played out of necessity because of our injuries. But what Mr Jones Jr. said is that in order to get a place in the rotation you either have to be consistent on both ends of the floor, OR excellent on one end of the floor. I'm going to tell you right now that Rodney Hood and Carmelo Anthony fit neither of those options.
I agree with you there. If we only played players who were exceptional on one side or consistently good on both, we might not be able to put 5 players on the floor right now.
lol these are some lofty goals by our guy Terry. You set low expectations, you develop a mindset to be mediocre. What a joke. https://theathletic.com/2450471/202...meet-terry-stotts-defensive-challenge-so-far/ Also: finally!
