He has flaws but every coach does. There are only a handful of coaches that are head and shoulders above him. Would I like to see him add a big name coach known for defense to be an assistant though? Yes.
Someone asked Stotts in the post game if he thought the Blazers were "sputtering" and he said no, because we're just "missing shots we normally make". Is he that clueless? Aminu and Harkless have been hitting 3s at a really decent clip, and except for the Clipper game, the bench has played pretty well. As far as missing, we're missing CRAP shots that shouldn't even be taken in the first place. The defense also seems to be back to being as bad as it ever was.
I thought Portland2014 started that one as well. Next one will be to replace Moda Center as it's clearly not working.
Dame has the right idea here. I wonder if the players are frustrated with Stott's defense. http://www.nbcsports.com/northwest/...ys-blazers-defense-needs-make-own-adjustments
IMO Stotts is the best HC we've had since the 2000-2001 season when Dunleavy was coach. Currently, the team ranks: 5th in PTS/G 7th in OPP PTS/G 2nd in Off Rtg 7th in Def Rtg So far Dame is having a career low in shooting % and efficiency for a season. Our team will be steamrolling opponents once Dame is back on track and the players continue their improvement under Stotts. We blew out most of our opponents and lost a couple of close games. I think the HC job is pretty secure unless Paul Allen wants a different coach.
Denny, I love ya , man, but that is just about the funniest thing you have ever posted. Four and two against garbage teams, equates a 54 win season? hahahahaha As an aside, I have been watching more ball than I usually do, and it appears that the league is again in transition. Getting bigger, faster and stronger. Lots of games seem to be more physical . The trend to rush down to small ball may soon be at an end.
Yeah I see the league going to tall ball, or long ball if you prefer; as in long lean athletes who play like small forwards and shoot threes like Steph Curry.
Now 4-3 with a really demoralizing loss. Stotts lost that game last night. Leaving time outs on the board when he watched with all of us his team suffering through quite possibly the worst meltdown this decade. I for one hope he is taking this loss seriously because it really speaks to the way he coached He should have found a way to restore composure in the second half. A shake up is in order and we will see what he does with the return of Vonleh.
Do we really wait for Vonleh to change this team? I like his potential at some point but don't think that will be any answer for problems we have.
Didn't the NBA remove like 2-3 timeouts per team per game? Probably explains why coaches are reluctant to call timeouts now in the middle of the game this season.
They did take some timeouts away but when you are in a quarter like that, call time out, get a T, pull the fire alarm.....something.
