I do agree coaching is the primary issue, but also don't believe the pair have the ability to overcome this even if Pops where at the helm. Dame with a true two-way mate might work.

What have Dame and CJ shown?! That they can beat teams in the regular season with their best players injured... they haven’t shown shit! Playoffs are the only place that counts. The 3rd seed was a joke... only 2 games from being out of playoffs and they have shown they didn’t deserve to be there. DAME AND CJ PAIRING IS THE PROBLEM!

It's been said that a bigger stronger SG paired with Dame could be a better duo. I happen to agree with that.

So there is literally a cult that practices apathy? And CJ is a member?

OK. NOW I'm ready to trade him.

CJ plus the kitchen sink for Kawhi Leonard.

I'd trade CJ for Jrue Holiday in a heartbeat....dude is a beast...I'd probably target him before most superstar guards at this point.

Man, I love CJ. I wish we had a PG that would drive and dish to CJ instead of drive and try to throw a shot up vs. one of the best shot blocking freaks of nature that the NBA has ever seen. Wish we had Playoff Rondo.

No, not the house foundation. Just the kitchen sink ;)

I wonder if Pops would want Aminu? Caleb? Meyers?

I know we aren't getting Kawhi, but I can wish. Now the Lakers media are clamoring for him.

Be careful: he's a beast WHEN HE'S HEALTHY. Say what you like about CJ but he's not injury-prone.

Go back in time and draft Giannis instead of CJ.
Then go back one year and draft Draymond Green instead of Meyers.
Oh, and while we're about it? LISTEN TO ME AT THE TIME and draft Mirotic over NOLAN SMITH.

Gotta do things in the right order:
    • Change coach (and GM if necessary...it's probably necessary at this point)
    • Modify roster based on what's needed after seeing who works and what's needed in the new system
I'm always open to trading a player. But trading CJ in the summer is the wrong time to trade him. I don't think CJ is the problem - he's too smart and too skilled to be the problem. But I do agree that a bigger SG who is better at defense would likely be a better option...I'm just skeptical that we can get that sort of player.

If we trade CJ we should do it mid-season. We'll rehab his value during the regular season - hopefully under a new coach. That way we maximize our return. Trading anyone of value (basically Dame, CJ, Collins since we can't trade Nurk/Ed) during the summer would be selling low. Use the other guys not listed over there <<--- to try to make minor but meaningful upgrades. Get a new coach. Play the first half of the season and see what the next move is, after we've built up better value in our players.

Not really. It also ain't just us. This is the sentiment across the entire fan base. There is problems with the way this team is built. This isn't rocket science. They need to make some changes. I just don't want to make changes that don't bring a good value back. That might be a year or even two away. But they do in fact need to be made.

I’d look at a sign and trade situation with Milwaukee where we send out CJ and Nurk and get back Middleton and Parker. Then try and get a real shooter at the 3 by shopping Moe and our 1st(s). Use out TPE on a guy like Courtney Lee or Tony Snell. This is my pie in the sky scenario.

I like Nurk but you can’t have your starting center signed to long term money when he can’t even play in the playoffs. We will always hit a matchup in the playoffs where he is exploited and taken completely out of the game. The game has changed, adapt or die.

Dame, Middleton, Harris?, Parker, Collins put into Budenholzer’s system and were cooking with gas again.

As far as I’m concerned, make everyone but Dame, Ed Davis and Zach Collins available......

Kevin O'Connor writes a predictable trade CJ article and comes up with a few ideas: https://www.theringer.com/nba/2018/...rail-blazers-damian-lillard-cj-mccollum-trade

    1. CJ + Leonard for Harry Barnes -- > gross
    2. CJ for Frank Ntilikina + #9 pick --> meh
    3. CJ for Monk, MKG, Zeller + #11 pick --> getting better
    4. CJ for DeAndre, Beverly + #13 pick --> Ok this is good.
    5. CJ for Love, Osman + #8 pick --> Where do I sign?

    Dame, Pat, Moe, Love, Nurk

With Zach, Napier, Aminu, and possibly Bridges off the bench (until he's ready to step in as a 2)? I'd do that today.

How do you know what I'm talking about or are you just assuming?

    "Trippin" has a few meanings.

I mean it I'm the sense that everyone is I'm here doing this:

I understand the many nuances of "Trippin" very well. Yes people are in fact "Trippin" but my feeling is there are ways to "Trip". You can look for positives and ways to fix issues or you can go to the Negs.
My point in my response was that the "Trippin"seems to be justified in some instances. It isn't just this thread or this forum. These kinds of conversations right now IMO have merit. That includes both sides of any argument happening.
