I dont care how much the money is.. But when ur 15..16..or 17.. its still good to get paid minimum wage because in an age that low it doesnt matter about money..u just wanna get the paper..im 14..and hopefully i can get a job somewhere next year..but getting paid and doing work at 15 or 16 is nice..u get to spend ur money on whatever you want..thats tight..i cant wait!
My first job was at a drug store called, Long's. It was an awesome job, I just got sick of it. It was repetitive, I got minimum wage, $6.75. Second job was at PETsMART. Horrible job. Made $7.55 an hour. Started out getting 40 hours a week, dipped to below 5 when I called in for a week because my grandmother passed away. The manager said that he couldn't schedule me anymore because I backed out of my hours when he needed me most. I told him to take his job, shove it up his ass, and told him I quit. I was on the verge of kicking his ass. He was pissed at me because my grandmother passed away. I now work at a grocery store called Ralph's. It's owned by Kroger. It's an awesome job, love it. So fun, so chill. I make $ 7.00 and I've been there for 3 weeks. They're probably going to transfer me to the service deli, wich is a $0.55 raise. I'm getting 40 hours a week, in the service deli, I could be getting almost 50. It just depends on how they schedule me around my classes.

What did you exactly have to do as a warehouse assistant?</div> Not a great deal really, I was working at the distribution centre for one of the major hardware suppliers (Mitre 10) in Australia, so what I did was basically sort through orders to make sure they were correct before being shippied out to stores, putting away products using an RF handheld computer and doing put away of the bigger stock using an RR Forklift. Usually there wasnt much going though, so alot of the time I just stood around talking to the old blokes or sweeping the floors. Eventually I left because they were going to cut my pay back once I went full time, as I'm under 21, and I was doing just as much work as others, so I told them to get stuffed. The hours started dwindling aswell. I just calculated it, $17.50 (AUD) works out to be about $13.30 (USD). <div class="quote_poster">Quoting Umair15:</div><div class="quote_post">I dont care how much the money is.. They'll try and cut every corner in trying to pay employees as little as possible, especially at your age.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting SP23:</div><div class="quote_post">Dam, $17.50 an hour at 17, nice. What did you exactly have to do as a warehouse assistant?</div> It's $17.50 in Australian money, lol. I started off as a paperboy when I was 13 and I got payed ?25 a week($50). That was quite good because I only had to deliever around 20 papers and it took 30 minutes to collect the papers, deliever them and get back home. I quit that job two years ago because I couldn't be bothered to wake up in the morning's anymore. This Chiristmas I got a job at a retail store called BHS(sell's mostly clothes). I was a sale's assistant there and bah god it sucked there. The pay was crap($9 an hour), the people that worked there were pricks and it was boring as hell. They asked me to come back and work for them permanently after Christmas but I said no. Now, I work in an office doing standard office work. It can be boring but it's not so bad. The pay is great($12 an hour), the people that work there are older but they are friendly and it's a relaxing job. I'm only going to work there for three weeks as it's a temp job. I've also applied for a job at a soccer club. I won't tell you which one but it's a Premiership team. I only applied because I know one of the team leaders(he goes to my college). There's a good chance I'll get the job and it also means that in my breaks, I'll be able to get free entry into the stadium and watch the games. I think the pay is something like $12 per hour so it's pretty good. I'll let you know if I get the job.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting NTC187:</div><div class="quote_post">Didnt you see the part about that equating to $13.30 US?</div> Yeh I did. I found it funny that there was a mistake made hence adding the "lol" after. Didn't you see that part?
Made around 15 bucks an hour (US Money lol) at the age of 15, designed stamps for a local stamp company...still working for them, I actually am at work right now heh...
I'm still looking for a job. I am in the middle of freaking nowhere with no car. Its practically impossible to job hunt since everything is so far apart here. Its like 3 miles to walk to the closest pizza shop so I'm desperately trying to get a job there. Its no fun sitting around all day with no money at 16 years old.
My first job was maintaining the barn and paddock at a horse racing track here. (picking up horse s*** mostly). It paid $8.50 an hour and it was a seasonal job so it only lasted a few months. Real fun job though actually, get to work outside and be active. Then I worked at Subway for a bit which was a horrible job in every aspect. Now I'm looking for a good full-time job... probably going to get into the longshoreman business.
