I don't think heart and passion for the game is used as a measure for hall of fame status. The reason it's hard to put Nash there is before this year he hasn't really done anything, and this year outside of the MVP his performance numbers wise were not anything special, out of the ordinary, or over the top.

You can't put Nash in the Hall of Fame and then not have guys like Kevin Johnson who was basically a 20-10 guy most of his career, and a much superior defender, and guys like Tim Hardaway etc. Nash is not a better player than any of those guys, but he has the MVP trophy.

I'm not sure if you're referring to Iverson with the off-court troubles thing, but that definately will not impact him going in the HOF, and his off-court stuff has been mainly minimal things anyways.

Steve is a great player, great guy and i'm happy for him. Realistically though he doesnt yet have the credentials for the Hall of Fame. Neither does Paul Pierce. Jason Kidd is starting to be border line...i think he'll make it eventually, but not a first time selection.
Nash is great, his team needed him alot and he did exactly what they needed. I'd say he's equal with, maybe a bit less, than Shaq in his deserving MVP, but he is certainly not far off. Shaq hasnt been the one blowing games open with his play, thats been Wade. Shaq in a sense has done the same thing Nash has, except he's scored 7 points a game less and his defence has been average compared with shaq's above average. End of the day, it really doesnt matter. History will decide their fate, lets just watch them play.

I think Steve Nash will be in the Hall Of Fame just because of the players around him in Phoenix. Since he is surrounded by great players, I think he will keep putting up similar numbers that won him the MVP award. If he can continue to put up 15 and 12 then I think he deserves to be in the Hall Of Fame. Hopefully he continues his success in Phoenix next season and then I think he will have a good shot at making the HOF.

Well, that all depends how long Nash continues to play. I think he has 3-4 god years left but I don't know if they'll be MVP years becuse of the imergance of young Stoudemire. Maybe thats the reason Nash is so good though, because of all the talent around him.
