I thought about this too but we just don’t need another small guard. He’d be great if our roster was constructed more evenly

I’m going to continue repeating this over and over: no trading first round picks for role players.

You package multiple picks for stars.
You do not deal your first rounders one at a time for role players like Nance, Covington, or Afflalo.

If we’re giving up a first round pick…they better get someone more impactful than that

what would be the point of that trade?

    upload_2023-1-13_10-5-41.png

Hart is better in just about every phase of the game; and they are about even on defense but Hart is more versatile

they are both on expiring contracts so no joy there. Crowder is almost exclusively a PF these days so Grant would have to go to SF. And it might take Crowder a month to get into basketball shape. He's no spring chicken

my take is if Hart is traded it needs to be for a substantial upgrade in at least one critical category and hopefully for a player locked into a longer contract. Just trading him out of frustration with the season's direction would be dumb

Of the trade deadline is always fun, but I just don’t think the Blazers are going to do anything worthwhile. If we are going to keep riding with Dame and serious about winning a championship, why don’t we go after a big name player like DeRozan or Levine that can help NOW?

I don't either. I wouldn't be surprised if there were no moves on the Blazers part.

Who would you give up for either of those two players? Just curious.

A future 1st for Vanderbilt would be good.

no first round picks for role players. If you are a championship contender, fine. It’s totally reasonable to trade the 29th pick for a piece that helps put you over the top.

but when you need so many things to be a championship contender (like the blazers), you don’t hand out first round picks for role players.

Have we not learned our lesson from Afflalo, Covington, and Nance?

So Atlanta was rumored to have really liked Hart last deadline if I can recall. Would not surprise me if they still do now.

Unfortunately, not enough $ going out in your idea. Collins makes 23.5 mil. Josh and Keon combined make 15.6. We'd need to get at atleast 18.8 mil going out.

We'd need to add Winslow's 4 mil, but then we'd be below the minimum # of players required on the roster after a 3 for 1 deal, while also putting ourselves in the tax. This would require buy in from our seemingly cheap ownership group, especially since we would also be forced into adding someone on the buyout market or making one of our two-way contracts into real ones.

I think Charlotte and Minnesota might be good trading partners for him. Trying to work one with Charlotte and Orlando where we end up with Jalen McDaniels, Mo Bamba and Rozier, who I think could be our scorer off the bench He hasn't had a good year but i thik that's cuz Ball missed a lot of time. He's only 28. Charlotte really does well on that cuz they would be getting rid of two guys (Oubre and Mc Daniels that they can't or don't want to re-sign) so they gotta give more, they have Denver's first round 2023 pick. Not a great rade, Might be better to try to get McDamiels and Bamba without giving up Simons.
Minnesota. Here we go after the other better McDaniels (Jaden) and also get a better bench scorer Russell for Simons, Keon, Watford and Winslow. Russel would be an expiring but I think McDaniels alone would be more valuable to us than Simons.
Or maybe we should use one of these clubs as the third team in a trade with Toronto for Siakam?

i don't think we'd trade Hart AND Payton unless a legitimate wing defender/rebounder is coming back in return. The flexibility to move Hart in the first place comes from having GP2 back and ready for minutes.

Theoretically, a Josh + Keon + Justise for Collins deal works. Just need to work around the buyout market and add a bench wing.

If the Hawks FO prefer Josh Hart to John Collins then they're showing better judgment than I would give them credit for. But I really don't see this happening: they're starved for shooting as it is, and I'm guessing they liked Josh BEFORE they traded for Dejounte Murray.

Would you trade Simons in a trade package for John Collins?

What is good about John Collins? At this point Zach Collins may even be better.

Well who do you suggest the Blazers should target?
