Time to buy real low on Ben Simmons, Portland is exactly the place he needs to regain his confidence.

    Dame
    Hart
    Sharpe
    Grant
    Simmons

Trading nurk and simons(presumably) isn't buying low.

Once we're allowed to trade Nurk, we'd have to add a bunch of salary to make this trade work. I don't even think adding Josh Hart and Winslow would be enough.

What about Nurk/GP3/Hart. Not really sure how low Simmons value is? We’d have to wait a bit but I think eventually a consolidation trade will be needed and who says Hart resigns anyway.

    Dame
    Simons/Keon
    Sharpe/Nas/Watford
    Grant/Winslow/Walker
    Simmons/Eubanks

Can Dame/Simons/Sharpe/Keon hold down the backcourt?

I was one of the staunchest Simmons guys over the summer then I heard more rumors about his head being not ok. Watching him this season he's just mentally done it seems. Could he come back? Maybe, but with our cap situation and top-shelf chemistry I just don't see the need to make a trade and I'm now officially leery of Simmons and kudos to all the people who slammed on him. Turns out you were right and I was wrong!

Side note, see how easy that is, admitting you're wrong?

An old mentor used to always tell me, "it's a quick trip from the penthouse to the outhouse" and I think that applies to Simmons. I hope for his sake that he was somewhat responsible with his money.

I think those 3 would be enough (or close to) to match salaries. Seems like a lot of give up for Simmons. I certainly wouldn't consider it getting him on the cheap.

I, like you, was far more open to the Simmons idea this summer than I am now, for the exact reasons you listed.

I was open for Simmons. Based around CJ. Still am open to Simmons in theory, but practically, looking at salaries, I'm opposed to what it would take.
So, in a vacuum yes, with what we'd have to offer, no.

If we could somehow acquire Brogdon that would be amazing. Dude is such a baller. Plays chess while everyone else plays checkers defensively. Still can’t believe the Celtics got him for what they did.

As RR7 has also said, in theory Ben could still be a good fit for us. But what about Ben’s play this season is telling you he’d be a good starting C for us?

I’d still maybe be interested in Ben, but the buy low would have to also be met with a sell high, meaning Brooklyn would have to love Simons enough to give us at least 2 or 3 1sts for taking on Simmons’ contract.

Simons isn’t a great playmaker yet, but he can actually score in the halfcourt. Simmons on the other hand, his playmaking in the halfcourt is highly suspect combined with his inability to score. So getting rid of Simons for Simmons actually does nothing for us even if it’s a “buy low”. And contrary to popular belief, Nurkic is better than Simmons right now.

I was thinking that too. I hope he has some very good investment people looking out for him. He seems lost in so many ways. I hope he can find his way in the NBA again, but not sure he will be able too.

The only way you take a chance on Simmons , at this point, is with a minimum contract deal. I wouldn't trade any of our top 9 for him. He's lost.

If i thought Simmons could be any good, I would consider Simons, Nurk and Payton for Simmons and Claxton. Maybe they could throw in Watanabe or a draft pick.

So you can expect the Nets to pursue trade opportunities ahead of the February deadline. In the days before Saturday’s brutal loss to the Indiana Pacers, the Nets had been in cursory talks with one Western Conference team about a deal that would return a veteran shooter, per SNY sources. Ben Simmons’ name came up in the talks, sources say.

My guess is the western team is GS
(Wiggins and Poole) Green and Poole would make more sense if they didn't dislike each other.

Or a PF alongside a C who can shoot from the perimeter?
