It just doesn't make any sense to me. Why would New Orleans deal Collison for Bayless, Sheed, and some scrub? He's their ONLY trade chip not named Chris Paul. If they deal him for cap relief, they basically send a message to Paul that they aren't trying to improve the roster, Paul wants to leave, and they lose BOTH their point guards. I'm all for getting Collison, but I don't think New Orleans would do this. Either they're in cost cutting mode and they deal Paul while handing over the reigns to Collison, OR they deal Collison for something that will actually help that team.
I like the kid. But that is an awful lot to give up for a small pG who played great for half a season. No way in hell will the Blazers do that. Rumor is Prz is already running and plans to be ready by fall camp. He alone will be worth Collison if this is true.
Plus, it can't happen due to the CBA. It would have to be Collison and Posey, and why would NO do that?
Actually, even though they wouldn't do it, dumping Posey's salary makes them more likely to consider it.
Not really my point. If Prz was healthy he alone would be worth more to many teams than Collison. A big healthy defensive center with an expiring contract is worth a lot. But my point is not comparing the two, it is that you don't make him one of the throw-ins for Collison. It is too much if he is indeed already running. And yes I realize their salaries don't match up.
I just really don't see NOH doing it. Not unless something significant is coming back. Either they're cutting salary (and Paul in the process), or they're going to be trying to prove to Paul that they want to win.
With all the draft day trades, I sorta lost track - but didn't Pondexter wind up with NO? Back before the draft, a lot of people had their eye on him as a potential Blazer.
