Reports are coming out that Pacquiao agreed to blood tests 24 days before the fight and immediately after the fight. A lot of experts have said that 24 days and immediately after the fight is enough of a timeline to find any traces of PED's. Mayweather's own camp was pushing for Floyd to agree to these terms, as well. In the end? Mayweather bitched out. http://www.boxingscene.com/?m=show&id=24534
I don't think it will stay canceled. This seems like a promotional technique. Not that it was needed, really.
It's called Hubris. Money Mayweather wants to protect his legacy and the promoters both want to be the hammer not the nail.
mark my words. the fight will happen. Great promotion. Shameless? meh, but goddamn it'll be a good fight.
Floyd was willing to meet in the middle at 14 days for the blood testing but Manny wasn't interested. Team Pacquiao refuse to have blood testing done. Who would leave $30 million dollars on the table by refusing to take a blood test? If they do fight, Floyd will make him look very ordinary. Now, nobody outside of Bob Arums (Manny's promotor) will fight Manny without him having blood tests. Manny must have something to hide if he doesn't want the testing done.
This is an absolute shame that this can't happen. I don't get why Manny won't take blood tests 14 days out, unless he has something to hide.
Well why suddenly is the Athletic Commission's drug testing methods not good enough for Floyd? They are both at fault.
it's probably not all that difficult. manny was already ready to agree to significantly more testing than what was required.
That would have been a great question to ask weeks ago, but now that Manny refuses testing a full 2 weeks out from the fight, that question presents itself with its own answer. I don't know why Floyd initially asked for such testing, but now that I've seen Manny's reaction to it, it's clear that Floyd made the right call.
The difference is a week or two. Plus Manny has agreed to give a sample right after the fight. It's two huge egos refusing to compromise.
It's just pride at this point. It's gotten to the point where Manny is just pissed off at Mayweather for defamation. Trust me, the fight will happen, these guys have north of 50+ millions waiting for each of them. They're not stupid.
but if one of them loses before they fight, tons of money disappears. they are taking huge risks by not just fighting now.
I understand Manny has a big ego and he doesn't want to cave in to Mayweather's pressure, but he has to understand canceling the most lucrative fight in his career over drug testing does not look good for his credibility.
