Anyone been watching the Spurs/Grizzlies series? Those guys are going at it like hockey players. You gotta admire Memphis. They've been hanging pretty tough with the Spurs. I think the Spurs are going to repeat this year.
The Spurs are my pick. They are playing playoff ball from the get go. Memphis are going hard, but the Spurs are not giving them a sniff. There is more to winning games than to just being talented, and San Antonio are giving the poor old Grizzlies a lesson in how its done. The one thing I like about the Spurs is the lack of ego shown. Gotta respect that.
Bucks with the first shock, defeating the Pistons in game 2, with the series heading to Milwaukee for the next 2. Detroit did this last year with Orlando and recovered. I expect the same. Richard Hamilton ejected with 5 remaining, Billups fouled out while Rasheed may a crucial error with 4 seconds on the clock which sealed the loss. Miami smashed the Hornets 93-63. Ouch Minnesota control there meeting with Denver 37-28 midway through the 2nd period.
The Spurs look really tough after winning a very tough game in Memphis to go up 3-0. Duncan's new nickname is groundhog... everyday its the same thing... 22/12
denver gets its first playoff win in a decade, as they beat the timberwolves by quite a safe margin in the first game of the series in denver the real reason, of course: lebron was in attendance at the game to support carmelo
in the words of Bill Walton... Bill Walton: "There you see LeBron James supporting his good friend Carmelo Anthony, the rookie of the year"
I really like what LeBron did. He came all the way to Denver to cheer Carmelo and the Nuggets on. What a great kid.
I swear you can't watch anything NBA nowadays with out showing LeBron in some sort of way. The kid is everywhere.
Cannot say I was disappointed to see the Celtics and Knicks get swept. There is a perceived arrogance in those franchises that I dont like. Gotta feel sorry for the Grizzlies. First ever playoff appearance and they take on the defending champions, who to me should take it all out.
Not sure if this thread is staying on or what. I'm going to update... Boston gets swept convincingly by the Pacers. Boston was never in this series. The Pacers bench looked great and often times outplayed the Celts' starters. Pierce looked bad. Ricky popped off. I was glad to see the series shape up this way. Good riddance Ricky Ricky. This and the Nets series show the lack of parity in the East. Nets polished off the Knicks. Kidd proved all the way through that his importance to his team in the p'offs is inestimable. There have been some exciting plays by the Nets, very typical run and gun stuff. There were a few games the Knicks appeared to bein and then the Nets shut em down when it counted. The Knicks are so... nondescript. Who is on that team anyways? They really have no superstar to let take over. The Nets have plenty. Detroit is up 3-1 on Milwaukee. The Pistons have not been playing that shutdown d (scores have been in the 80's and 90's) but they've done enough. The 4th game likely won it for them. The Bucks appeared to have a shot, but as they have been (with the exception of one play in game 2) the Pistons scored and stopped when it counted most. The Pistons have some depth too and can create great offensive and dfensive mismatches. Pistons/ Pacers is looking more and more interesting. I had the feeling this one would happen. The Hornets catch up to the Heat. Series at 2-2 and looking to be exciting. I haven't watched any games of this one but plan to. Odom has been all over the box scores. He approaches a trip-dub almost every game. Hopefully we'll see more of Wade's last second heroics. If it can't be our rookies, why not him? West Spurs dominated the Grizzlies. The Grizzlies never really looked to be in the series much less any one game. Battier said in interviews that he hoped to take one game off the Spurs and they didn't get that. I felt bad about this one as I like Hubie. Mavs-Kings. Kings up 3-1 and the Mavs have been a disappointment. The 4th game was wild with missed layups and turnovers abound and it seemed to be the nail in the Mavs' coffin. Too bad as I like the Mavs a lot. Jamison has been pretty solid and the rookies have played well in the clutch. Christie has really been showing up for the Kings thogh with intense effort on d and on offense. It looks as if Melo may have to wait another year and Garnett can get the p'off monkey off his back. The T- Wolves have been the better team and the Nuggets have come close but a 3-1 lead for the T- Wolves makes this another lackluster series IMO. Melo has been disappointing and nearly got injured last night in a close game. Lakers- Rockets. All but one game have been very close. Francis has had some great moments and some momentum killing onews too- hitting big shots and turning it over on the next possession. Kobe was awesome in the last few mins of the Lakers win at Houston that put Lakers up 3-1. Shaq and Yao... Where have you been??? Isn't that supposed to be the marquwee matchup? Jim Jackson has been the redeemer for the eleventh or so team he's played for in the Rockets. I wish the Cavs had him still. Though some games have been close only one series is tied. Im rooting for the T-Wolves, Rockets, and Mavs in the West and the Bucks and Heat in the East. Can't wait till next season! Keep Kapono!
But who on the Hornets can stop Odom, Miami has sucked all year on the road, and it was very hard envisioning them winning in New Orleans. When the go back home they'll win.
good writeup, Jigo_oi ! since i dont have cable, i have to rely on the sunday abc games to see the playoffs - i'm hoping an interesting matchup will last till then so i can see a decent game!
Lakers finished off the Rockets last night. So far we have in the West: Lakers, Spurs for sure. Sacramento up 3-1 on Dallas T- Wolves up 3-1 on Nuggets Needless to say the West has seen no excitement throughout a series. In the East: Nets, Pacers for sure Detroit up 3-1 on Bucks Miami and NO tied at 2-2 East features the only good series so far. How about that? And surely the Cavs couldn't have done worse than the Knicks or Celts.
New Orleans will upset Miami. Detroit, T-Wolves and Kings should finish off their series with their next game.
