There's a "Filipino spot" here in West LA (white area but a street where all the Asian food is). They had a fusion spot that did chicken adobo with boneless, skinless chicken breast. Never been so offended in my life.
I think you guys are onto something....write the script! Send it to John Carpenter! The attack of the urban adobo!
I've been enjoying cooking ...tonight made myself some stir fry peppers, carrots and bok choy with garden greens, fresh parsley and garlic puree made a couple days ago...some sweet chili sauce and sesame oil...then had a tuna melt on 12 grain toast with grated jack and cheddar with pepper and pickle...a cup of miso soup on the side with green onion. My wife is staying at my son's house twice a week to help with the grandson and I'm enjoying cooking a lot...she's better than I am so when she's here, I prep and clean and she does her magic. My son cooks for everyone...he loves it and is a true foodie...in his house mom preps and he cooks
Riverman's meals sound pretty good! I just ate caramelized banana pancakes with warm maple syrup and a fried egg. Lunch is green salad and a Korean-style fish stew, really spicy. Will probably need a few spoonfuls of yogurt afterwards. A pear for dessert.
I've eaten two different kinds of Korean stew but never a fish one. One had Manila clams in it and is now my favorite Korean meal.
I had a relative who used to dive for them in Alaska to sell to the Koreans. I once ate sea urchin eggs which the Korean owner of the restaurant assured me would guarantee me of many children. We never were able to have any children and I never tasted anything so bad in all my life. I guess they're not related to slugs but rather they are related to sea stars and sand dollars and I don't eat those either. By the way, caviar describes the eggs of sturgeon before they are deposited from the mother's body. They are harvested from the bodies of female sturgeon and salted for preservation and taste. Technically, only sturgeon eggs can be called caviar. All other fish eggs are called roe.
sea cucumbers look like slugs ......sea urchin roe is delicious! you know you eat the eggs, not the spines right?
I had it Korean style sprinkled all over my Korean salad. I had to put on a polite face but I didn't have to have any damned seconds. One of the worst tasting things I ever ate. Okay, there was this one meal I shared with Frank Zappa.
K, so I felt like grilling St. Louis ribs this evening. That said, nothing quite like the compliment of tater salad and a beer.
The college football team? My adoptive father was once the manager of their football team while he was in college there. He got to travel with the team. Whenever one of the Blacks on the team was denied entrance into one of the many travel restaurants they ate at, the whole team would not eat there, same goes for the lodging. I'm so proud of that.
Sooo, the Kentucky Derby is tomorrow and my wife wants to whip up a traditional dish for the occasion. Hence, among other delectables, a Kentucky Hot Brown Sandwich. I've never had one of these, so the jury is out for me. We shall see.... I posted this elsewhere. I'm checking out this Traeger "smoked" Bloody Mary mix. Gonna be great!
Traeger bloody mary mix! That's crazy and awesome. I would try it, traeger makes good stuff usually. I'll be looking forward to your review.
