What is thriving to one person is not for another. In my neighborhood, a collge education was thriving. But if you want to turn your nose down at her for getting a C, it's your right. But man have you ever hung out with someone who doesn't have any advantages, because you might more appreciate that she is in fact thriving.

I'm guessing for most of her life she couldn't even realistically dream of having a college degree, much less from UCLA. I hope if she somehow manages to get a degree from UCLA, even if she didn't "thrive," she should very proud of herself.

I did, you just didn't get it. I have no problem with legal immigrants going to a US university. One doesn't have to be a citizen to be a legal immigrant. When you become illegal, you have to go back to your country. Period. The laws are clear.

Yep. The laws are clear and the timeline is long. Extensions are regularly given for those who make a good-faith attempt to renew their visas.

Sometimes, you have to be responsible for yourself.
