If winning more than last year's 84 games makes them better, than I think they ARE better.

I say they'll be about 6 wins better, all things being equal.

Benefit of the doubt? A pass? are you kidding me? Yes he built up our bullpen but considering how bad the starting rotation is we're going to need a solid bull pen.

Vic you called it right he just threw shit against the wall to see what stuck.

And honestly, unless I'm winning something really important like a bag of cheetos, its really not important.

In times up to '12 Yankees Spring Training Tickets sold out lightning fast upon availability, this year there are plenty of seats available as of todays date. Up through last year I drooped whatever I was doing to watch a game, this year I will keep that attitude and further state that when looking at the 2015 schedule you'll note that it is loaded against AL East rivals so a quick start is needed . The other Eastern Teams of issues of their own. Though less games are played against ALC and ALW teams, improvements over there are duly noted but as of yet untested. Still the '15 versinon has too many ifs. I vote that the Katzenjammer Kids sell the Yankees to an ownership group who cares or replace Cashman for a quality GM.

...yup, that is the only way things will change. Wouldn't mind Jeter being a part of that ownership group.

So you're okay with the job that Cashman has done? And the fact that the starting rotation is a GIANT question mark?

The team won 84 games last year and missed the playoffs by 4(?) games with the offense near the bottom of the league (sucked) in most categories after he signed Ellsbury,McCann, Beltran and Tanaka (who went down with an elbow injury).

What did you expect him and ownership to do? Don't you think they're correct in taking a wait and see approach this season regarding the offense or should they try and steal a couple of "allstars" from other teams to fill holes?

And they did sign Headley and traded for a young (inexpensive) SS who they think may hold the position down and help solidify the left side for at least a few years.

They did say they weren't going after any of the top free agent pitchers and I can't blame themāž”see Tanaka and CC.

As for the pitching....and question marks, maybe they're not done yet with moves..they could also be expecting better things from CC and are committed to seeing what the group of Pineda, Eovaldi, Warren and Nova (June) can do.

Sure you can say they're unproven- let's see if they CAN prove something.
Looks like the Yankees also want to see.

...they also signed a relatively expensive SS (Drew) who also cannot hit a lick...they also traded away 2 "inexpensive" pitchers (Greene and Phelps)...they also signed a reliever (Miller) for slightly less than DRob would have cost.

...yes, Cashman clearly has a plan.

The only thing a WAIT & SEE APPROACH ever got anyone was an early vacation. Sure sometimes you get lucky but when you have a pitching staff that's held together with band-aids, bandages & slings, Sorry but a little difficult to be optimistic.

CC = on the decline the last few years before his recent knee surgery.
Pineda = Hasn't had a healthy season in years.
Tanaka = ? on that arm
Nova = not back until June & no idea what he can do after TJ surgery
Evoldi = Career 15-35 with an ERA over 4 & a career WHIP of 1.440 & led the NL in hits given up.

Not to mention that we also go into 2015 with question marks at SS (Didi) & we have no idea whats the kids can do at 2B

These were all ? at the end of the 2014 season & they still are. Yeah.........Cashman's done a real fine job. Lets renew his services & give him a raise., Oh wait.

Before signing Drew I thought we were in the midst of a youth movement and about to watch the young guys come up the ranks. Now I'm not sure what is going on.

I do like the idea of getting younger and not taking on ridiculous contracts, but it better work out.

You may not like it, or disagree or not believe it but I think Cashman does have a "plan".

It may not be as imaginative as you would like but I think a large part of the "plan" is waiting on Beltran, McCann and Tex to provide significantly more as a group than last year.
Miller over Drob ? - 5 mil less for a reliever who was more dominant than Drob, same age and get a pick right after the 1st round.
Sounds like some sort of "plan" to me.

Gregorius has been dreadful vs LHP but he can damage RHP with an OPS over .700.
They're OBVIOUSLY expecting better from him vs LHP,
and being a LH batter at 6'2, 205 lbs playing 81 games at Yankee Stadium they also have reason to believe he can hit a few long balls.
We'll see, lets find out. The trade has been made.

If I know (expect) that - I think Cashman does.

As for the pitching - I already gave my take on it in post 34.

There's The Plan! lol We can take it or leave it.
