This would be amazing!! Four day work weeks!

A second study is currently in progress and the expectation is the same result of the first.
Here is an excerpt from the article summarizing the first trial:

“Until now, Iceland had conducted the biggest pilot of a shorter working week between 2015 and 2019, with 2,500 public sector workersinvolved in two large trials. Those trials found no corresponding drop in productivity among participants, and a dramatic increase in employee well-being.”

I know I have worked four 10’s in my time as an hourly employee, but I loved it for the 10 hours of OT, I would get on Fridays. :)

Now being salary, it’s no extra pay and always OT.
    Ugh!

Would you be interested in working 32 hours and not losing a single benefit or penny from a 40 hour work salary or wage?

    Unless you're an hourly worker.

I didnt read anything about the trial stating there was a difference? It even referenced fish and chips places? Pretty sure they would be hourly?
It says get paid for five days when working four, as long as production doesn't drop.
Did you happen to read the article?

I was given the option to be salary or hourly and I opted for the latter since I don't mind working OT. I'm having second thoughts now.

It makes sense for production, or for office workers, computer engineers and such. I can see the matching production to keep it going. But if you're a fish and chip stand, you can't just miraculously tell more customers to come each day to be able to do 5 days worth of service in 4 days. And what of weekends?

    Hello,
Did you happen to read the article? The largest test of this showed no drop in production but a much healthier/positive employee.

Me thinks not many people are actually reading the article in the OP!

This made me think… and in no way specifying anyone here…. just people in general…

Is it me, or more often than not are the more judgmental of us typically the lesser informed individuals compared to those who aren't quick with a judgmental opinion?

    An Arsenio Hall moment…

I think people click on articles they are interested in but others like myself...walk into the pub without a newspaper when discussing politics or culture or religion...I find independent thinkers the most interesting to engage in discourse and those who cut and paste media or print often less informed by their own logic and value systems than those of someone else . Of course that's not all but it's like twitter burnout to me when people talk with "media" voices and not their own. Not to say there isn't a wealth of valuable info out there but sometimes it's better if you read something to tell me what you think about it more than to ask me to read it. I can tell you my wife likes the 4 day week and has set her schedule up for that for a long time now

I link a lot of articles over here, strictly for the point of view. I rarely ever completely agree or disagree with the source or material, but mainly it's to put the information out there and hopefully spark discussion.

If I ever post something and anyone wants my opinion, I'm always more than happy to share.

I respect that and I've posted stuff here too..mostly music but I don't think topics require articles to discuss them. It's a sticking point for some folks though. I just want folks to understand I'm not going to read or watch a lot of stuff that gets cut and pasted..out of choice really

That doesn't mean anything. Hourly workers don't necessarily have a set time they're working, etc. I.e., somedays you work 6, somedays 10. Depending on the job etc.

My job is hourly, but not set 8 hrs a day stuff. Varies day to day, and I'm paid *by the hour*. So if work 50 hrs I'm paid for 50. If I work 20, I'm paid for 20.

I can respect that as well. As I mentioned elsewhere today, I've been off Facebook for around a decade for similar reasons. In the great words of this guy I know, "choices". We all get them. I can't force anyone to click a link I post, no matter how pertinent I think it may be.

I can say without hesitation though that the public school that hired me in Hawaii gave me just enough hours to not get benefits and hired a second teacher to teach the same classes part time who also wouldn't get benefits....I soon left and started working at the Japanese college in Hilo full time. Also the idea of a 4 day work week is going to have a hard time keeping up with the other countries who have a 6 day work week. If made in America wants to compete...cutting work hours might not be the smartest move. No doubt it's better to have more free time for charging the batteries but is that sustainable if you are relying on a wage to survive or get ahead?

I still use Facebook. But mainly to look at pictures and see what my friends' vacations are like. I don't form any political opinions based on what is posted on Facebook and obviously not Twitter since I'm not on that.

I work four 10’s and having Friday off with the weekend is amazing. I could never see myself going back to 5 day work weeks

maybe I’ll only work 3 days if this becomes the norm
