boy r they going to be terrible their first year. thats such crap that they cant get a top pick. they should automatically get the number one pick like the houston texans did. especially with how crappy next years class is shaping out to be
Not Lebron They dont get lebron. They get 4th pick of next years draft. Also, The expansion draft works like this. Teams protect 8 players and the bobcats can choose anyone they would like to sign.
I think they'll end up with both Melvin Ely and Keyon Dooling.......not a bad pair of prospects either. Clippers will protect: Brand, Kaman, Odom(if resigned), Maggette, Richardson, Jaric, Wilcox, 2004 1st rounder Exposed will be Ely and Dooling. Charlotte would snatch them up in a heartbeat, as that could provide them with their future PG and PF/C. But if Odom isn't matched, my guess is that LaC will then protect Ely(size is harder to acquire than a PG). In which case, Charlotte could still come away with a young, good prospect from the Clippers.
that would be good for them. they also can get a lot of talent out of top teams with deep benches, like detroit, kings, mavs, etc.
I havn't had the chance to read the whole thread but how does this new franchise work? do they get the 4th pick next year and how did they decide that? and how do they have a chance at these players? will they be from free-agency? how much cap space will they start off with? i'm still in the dark about how this will work
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Spartanfan2003:</div><div class="quote_post">Vintage, is Keyon Dooling not going to be a Free Agent that year anyway?</div> I forgot.............I think he will be a RFA. Which then, the Clippers wouldn't have to protect.......so nevermind. I also like to add that you don't have to protect your 2004 1st rounder either. The expansion draft will be held BEFORE the NBA draft. So, looks like the Bobcats will miss out on both Ely and Dooling. My mistake.

Each team gets to protect 8 players. The unprotected players get chosen by Charlotte. They will have a salary cap at around $32 million or so. So that plays a factor in determining who to draft in the expansion draft.
