I've been all over LA. My brother lived there for 6 years and I visited him once or twice a year. Its phony, its crowded, its very Raider/Laker fan. Don't get me wrong, nice place to visit. I'd never live there. I would however live in parts of San Diego. PS. I've never been to Disneyland. Oh, and I do love all the fake tits. I'm happy with the NW and its authenticity.
Well I hate to break it to you, but if you hate LA then you won't like San Diego anymore. It is pretty much all one big metropolis. Like LA there are some really nice pockets to live in by the ocean. But it you think it is isn't crowded then you haven't been there for a while.
I don't get the fascination with SD. Its basically a bunch of family oriented subdivisions. The beaches are pretty nice, but other than that, if you go east of the 5 its kind of teh suck unless you can afford a million dollar house. the women are hot, but its a lot of trash out in SD (not like there's not any in LA)...but at least in LA there's almost an unlimited amount of daytime and nighttime options to keep yourself busy. I mean if you have a family and kids and want safe schools yeah...up north county is great. other than that, its kind of meh.
California in general is an overcrowded cesspool. My buddy got a job in Sacramento. Holy shit, what a hell hole that is. Although their version of the Pearl is kinda cool.
If I lived in Cali it would probably be either Oceanside, Mission Beach, Monterrey or Carmel or some place like that.
If Malibu is to your north, you live in the ocean. The Malibu coast runs east to west. If you look at the ocean, you're looking south.
I just really didn't like the people down there. I met a few cool friends, but most people were self-centered douchebags.
I lived there, mainly San Bernardino/Riverside but also Los Angeles, 3 times, total 12.5 years. When I moved to the Pacific Northwest, my instant reaction was, this is utopian paradise compared to there.
