Nylon Calculus has him as a 98th percentile defender and his Defensive RPM was 3rd among point guards this season at 2.31.

The analytics suggest he's well on his way to being an elite defender, if he isn't already. Not to mention he's already an elite rebounder relative to the rest of the leagues point guards.

People just love to hate on him because he went through a really bad cold stretch shooting last season, and his dad has a big mouth. He is going to be an excellent player.

If you don't know what's wrong with your trade proposal, There's nothing I can do for you.

You just advocated trading Dame for a package that includes Lavar Ball coming to my town....

Not even worth arguing at this point. Portland fans love to fall in love with players. Same as the front office. Falling in love with players is what got us in the mess we are in now. I've made valid points and no one has had any sort of legitimate counter to my suggestions other than a players' father and liking guys representing their city. Sigh.

The mess we're in now is mostly due to a few bad contracts to Meyers and Turner, and still paying a few guys like Ezili. Are you saying fans made that happen because of our fervent love of Meyers and of Turner who hadn't even been on our team yet?

But yeah I like Dame representing our team, we're very lucky to have him.

I'm a Portland fan. I'm not from Portland, though. It's not my city.

The signings of both of those guys were a direct response to the illusion of both the fanbase and front office that Portland could contend with a Dame/CJ duo

We beat the Clippers and looked like we could maybe be something special against Golden State. The last 3 games of that series were very competitive. The Turner signing had everything to do with that series. A guy who we could run the offense through to take pressure off CJ and Dame, and a guy each could play with off the ball, decreasing the workload.

Meyers was all about hoping one day he could become the stretch 5 that's so coveted in today's NBA. Spreading the floor for our backcourt that demands attention.

I was listening to Laker talk today and they are counting on using Luol Deng's expiring contract..... next summer. Hell we have better expiring options then that.

I lean the exact same way. I just feel with Dame we'd get a bigger return. But there's no doubt I would much prefer Dame is a Blazer for life.

and for the long term we could be much worse. Draft choices don't always work out and to try and get a player to replace Lillard would be extremely lucky as well as hard.

Also, where is your proof that Ball is a "98%" defensive player (not even sure what that means). If you are referring to him being at the top 2% then that is seriously flawed. There are 450 players in the league and to be top 2% that would make him a top 9 defensive player. He's not even close.

    Among point guards.

You should get more into analytics. They'd tell you Dame and CJ will never work. They'd also make what I'm saying more believable, seeing as how they're, well, facts.

Dame and CJ are guys you can build around, but the contracts were overblown that year due to the market which is haunting us now, we struck out on other targets, it was the last time we were going to have significant money to spend in free agency for awhile so it was use it or lose it. Unfortunately those players haven't lived up to their contracts at all, but either way the fan base didn't sign them.

That is a tired, false excuse. They could've easily rolled the cap space over one more year by delaying the CJ extension.
