    1) Agreed. CJ's extension could have easily been delayed until the following off-season, thus preserving cap space for the '17-'18 summer.
    2) ET's signing was NEVER going to be an asset. I don't mind the thought process, but terrible execution.
    3) Couldn't agree more. The problem has always been WHO the money was spent on. It's better to not spend the money than make a bad purchase.

The Blazers were concerned that the players were going to opt out of the CBA the next season, which likely would have ended up costing more for CJ:

In the end the players didn’t opt out so it looks like a questionable move in hindsight. You win some and you lose some.

Oh I know.... I’m just dreaming about what we could have done if the cap space had penciled out for this year.

People didn't see the word "imagine" I guess.

    We'd have Cousins and Tyreke.

Imagine a couple of guys decided to retire and opened up some cap space.

Doing what most Euros do... realizing they don't want to sit on the bench?

That's...surprising! I can't imagine he'd get more money in Europe, unless possibly from CSKA Moscow.
I thought that them acquiring him meant that they'd be more willing to give up Saric, who is very similar. Maybe this will undermine the Kawhi trade.

It certainly follows a pattern of Euros who came over after they were established in Europe. Navarro, Spanoulis, Rudy, Sergio, De Colo, Shved. I guess it isn't just about the money.

(And then of course there are the stars who never came over: Dejan Bodiroga, Diamantidis, Felipe Reyes.)

Interesting to see Boban and (for now at least) Teodisic hanging in there. Also Bojan Bogdanovic. I guess they all earned SIGNIFICANT (i.e., at least double the best Euro-salary) $$.

According to Windhorst today on the Zach Lowe podcast, Toronto is the frontrunner for a Kawhi trade and both LA and Philly are out.
