I don't see that Toronto has much appeal, personally. Their backcourt is aging (Lowry) and not very good (DeRozan - I don't care what anyone says). Would the Spurs like Valanciunas? I don't see it.

Derozan would prolly be a starting piece.

Overpaid and just not that good. Can't shoot 3s, doesn't defend.

Compare him with CJ and you'd think defense would be a big advantage, but if you rank shooting guards by DRPM, DeRozan is 85th and CJ is 90th. (Ouch.) Meanwhile CJ is a better shooter from just about everywhere, and certainly 3s.

Shows what I know, I guess. If this is the best the Spurs could get for Kawhi, I'm frankly surprised.

Derozan had a bad playoff series, but the guy is second only to Harden as a scorer in multiple ways. He would add MUCH more here than CJ in getting to the free throw line, and would've helped immensely by but cutting off the ball, getting buckets in transition (probably our greatest team weakness), and so on. We don't have a single strong slasher on the team right now.

You couldn't play him with Turner, so we'd of had to jettison him, but I love Derozan's game.

Wait, hold up... if you're going to use DRPM, then why would you ignore ORPM (Where Derozen's is literally double of CJs)? Bias? There's no other reason I g that could explain that.

    Derozen has a better TS% and 2P%...

    Cmon man.

And CJ has a better eFG% (which takes into account 3 pointers)

50.6% compared to only 48.8% from DeRozan.

And? Derozen is better, and I guarantee you SA held him in higher regard.

I guess Bjelica must've told the Sixers "I'm leaving the NBA" and they thought he was going back to Europe, but really he just meant he was going to the Kings.

Since SAS didn't want to trade Kawhi to a west team... did Toronto grab him thinking he would either play and gain hype/value to trade anyway or are they just going to do what SAS didn't want to do and straight up trade him for the best deal available from a Cali team without suiting up? The Lakers probably don't want him going to the Clips or Kings for fear he may love it. They may not get a player better than Derozan alone but may get a better package in total. It is a gamble, especially since Kawhi has more potential than maybe anybody in the league.

So apparently OKC and ATL will come to agreement on Schroder, Muscala, and OKC's 2022 1st for Carmelo.

What a horrible move that'll be for Oklahoma City. Schroder can't play without the ball at all, and is an even worse shooter and defender than Carmelo. The best part of his offensive game is his passing, which will be neutralized by playing next to Russ and PG. Schroder would literally be subtraction by addition for them. They save money, but Presti would be smart to then try to turn Schroder into something else... Maybe Indiana would trade Collison for him, which would be a great move for OKC.

It'd be savage if Toronto traded for Kawhi just so they could get a good package from LAL (A better one than they could've gotten anywhere for DeRozen).

That'd be smart and end up with at least two first round (probably not lottery though) picks for Derozan.

If this happened, I think Atlanta would be interested in trading Melo for ET, Meyers, and a 2019 1st. They seem to be stacking up on picks, and an extra year of bad salary for a 1st makes sense, especially since Bazemore expires in 2020 as well.

For us, we could move forward with Carmelo and hope he rebounds back to form, but if not, we'd be looking at a little bit of cap space in 2019, and if we traded Nurkic, we could land Cousins.

how could they land Cousins? Wouldn't he want to come here in the first place?

In this scenario, I'd trade ET and Meyers + a later first round pick (not next year) for Anthony. But than again, he has to approve it. So....I might as well fart in a jar.

If I'm Toronto, I'm trading him to either the Lakers or Clippers. Especially if he's not going to play there. but if he's just going to sit out and be a whiny little bitch about it (tm @Orion Bailey ) I'd call his bluff and let him sit out.
