Sure, there are far more examples of offensive-minded players making it into the league, but that's a different topic. Guys who focus on defense usually are less naturally talented and have to adopt the blue collar mentality. Not many of them make it to the highest level.

I can't see Portland wanting to take on that salary plus the tax for a backup center right now. If you could dump Leonard in the deal then maybe.

If bought out, I'd be interested in him for the minimum as a backup C to Nurk. But, at 15 players, we'd have to cut someone to do it.

Phoenix effectively chose Richaun Holmes over Chandler. I think Tyson is done.

Phoenix is rebuilding, they have no need for chandler. He’d be a solid backup. Problem is if we didn’t want Davis, we won’t want Chandler. We’d have the same issues offensively.

Well, Chandler at the minimum would be less of a tax hit than Davis. Nearly a 10 mil difference. If he can play spot minutes and be an injury insurance, I'm all for it. But bringing him in is like Stauskas -- you do that after you make all your trades and bigger moves (if there are any). Cutting someone just to take on Chandler now would only cause more clutter.

Chandler is a perfect mentor to Zach Collins. Skinny dude that learns to be a defensive force with good athleticism. Zach is already more talented offensively, but Chandler would be a good mentor for Zach nonetheless.

I think the Suns want to keep Chandler so he can mentor Ayton.

Edit: Nevermind guess the Suns are trying to buy him out haha

I actually had that thought also. By NBA standards, Zbo was not a great athlete - but he found success (albeit on one end of the court) by honing his relevant skills. As a big man who plays below the rim, Caleb is not going to make it on either raw talent or hard work alone. He needs to really develop the right skill set.

We passed on him a couple months ago....he can score in bunches but doesn't play a lick of defense and is known to check out of games like Mo has in the past..plus has had lots of off court issues...if we want paint scoring with iffy defense we could pick up Monroe...

Right now, it won’t surprise me if Melo sign with the Lakers for FREE

They sure are surrounding LeBron with the most JR Smith-like players.
