I was expecting over a hundred NBA tweets since 9:01 but so far i'm seeing about 20 on twitter. Kind of a let down. Guess i'll go to sleep then read everything tomorrow morning.

The free agency moratorium lifted at midnight, and teams are now allowed to officially sign players. J.R. Smith, who is in Las Vegas, inked his 2-year deal ($2.8M in first year, player option in year 2) after 9 p.m. PT. Jeremy Lin's four-year offer sheet that he signed with Houston is expected to be matched today, along with the completion of several other moves (Kidd, Camby, Novak).

    • The Lakers and Suns made the Steve Nash trade official. Nash joins Kobe Bryant, Andrew Bynum and Pau Gasol (the last two of those for now at least) in L.A. to form a contender that could challenge the Thunder if everything comes together for them (and they get another perimeter shooter/defender).

    • We told you already that Deron Williams remains a Net and will make enough money to live in New York City. Which is no small feat.

    • Blake Griffin put his name on the dotted line and will remain with the Clippers, a five-year deal but the final year of that is a player option. This is Griffin’s first post rookie deal contract and there was never any doubt he would take the big payday to stay in L.A. The real challenge for the Clippers now is getting Chris Paul to stay next summer.

    • J.R. Smith inked a two-year deal to be a designated gunner with the New York Knicks.

    • Darrell Athur is in Memphis and signed a new three-year deal with the Grizzlies.

    • More deals will become official as the day moves on, such as Ray Allen going to the Heat. We will keep you up to date on all of it.

Reported McGee is going to get $10mil from Denver, why cant we do better than that offer?

He's got a little 'Sheed' in him, but this team misses some of that.

I'd make a run at him, but I believe I'm in the vast minority here.

But I would expect Denver to still match whatever we'd offer, so it'd likely be pointless anyhow.

Worst case, we drive the price up and make a division rival spend more.

$10mil is what he's reportedly going to get. If you want to drive up the price, you have to go above $10mil.

Marc Stein: Among Nets' reasons to push for Dwight finality today, sources say, is fear Blazers will sign RFA Brook Lopez after Indy matched on Hibbert about 6 minutes ago

    No thanks!!!

Jason Fleming: I don't think it's very likely POR goes after Brook Lopez, but if that is a real for Brooklyn, then whatever motivates them. 4 minutes ago

That and NJ was already in talks to max Lopez, so what would be the point in signing him to an offer sheet, just to tie up the cap until NJ matches?

    Lots of ".....".

I think he's making reference to us not making any moves. At least that's how I'm taking it. :devilwink:
