I would contend that Claver's a SF and is not relevant to this discussion, that Freeland and Leonard are rookies who might need to be brought along slowly, and that Hickson is not really any more talented, promising, or minutes-worthy than Blatche is, not to mention that Blatche is 6' 11", meaning he's probably better equipped to play some minutes at center. And even if he didn't play much, he'd still be a be a good practice body to develop the rookies, and potentially a good asset for a future trade.

Looking at the free agents out there, I don't see much at the center position with more potential at better value than Blatche can offer. Perhaps I just have knucklehead blinders on, and perhaps I'm biased because I was on his bandwagon all the way back in '08 before he "broke out", but I want him in Portland.

Blatche is the right age - 25. But there is a reason a promising 25 yo was let go.

Hickson was let go too... do we already have one ticking timebomb? More at 11 on KGW news.

Just pointing it out. Not saying we need him. I wonder if the kiddy porn "embezzlement" theory wasn't true after all?

He lost a step. All he had was his ability to make up ground. He still has the energy, but doesn't have the hops anymore.

Minnesota is finalizing a two-year, $20 million contract with free agent forward Andrei Kirilenko, league sources tell Y! Sports.

That's a lot of dough, but it's a short deal, so the risk isn't as high it could have been.

It's really more the fact that they're paying Kirilenko 10 mil per year that's hilarious.

Pretty damn funny. Every game will look like the state championship in Hoosiers.

15 mil for two players who are complete ??s in Roy and AK. Ridiculous. It really is boom or bust, and it didn't need to be.

Kahn' been in panic mode this offseason because he's paranoid that Love's going to bolt unless he gets some real talent around him.

They have made some splashy moves, but some head scratching one's as well.

It sure sounds that way. They do not want to wait any longer to make the playoffs. I give him credit. He is looking like Bob Whitsitt right now. I give him credit for going all out to make the playoffs this year. The chemistry with all of them will be interesting to watch.
