I just don't get Oubre going to a rebuilding team. Other than cash of course. But he's already earned some decent cheddar. How bout come to a potential, with his services, contender, and rebuild your resume with a contribution to helping a team achieve something. Hornets make no sense to me.
He's really never done anything. Is it you're hoping the potential people once thought he had, comes out.
if what you're pointing at is Olshey's timid nature when it comes to taking a big risk, that's valid. And if you're talking about Olshey's passion for 6'3 players and contrasting that with the Bucks' length, that's also valid however, I think there are also some pretty significant differences in the two team's situation. to start with, the Bucks were close already. They had the MVP, and they had a 2nd star that meshes extremely well with Giannis. And Middleton is a much better #2 option than CJ who plays both ends of the floor. So, the Bucks were looking at a #3 option that had all-star level talent. Portland is not close to contending at all another big difference, and I think it's a controlling difference is that Giannis is 4 and a half years younger than Dame; and Middleton is a year younger. So, Milwaukee had a reasonable expectation that they would be a contender for the duration of almost all the picks they gave up. And, the player they traded for had an established two-way game that fit very well with the other two stars Dame is 31. He's made noises about demanding a trade. And Portland won't be looking for a #3 option, they will be looking to trade an inadequate #2 option for a better #2 and a better fit. Which means, IMO, the Blazers would need to be really cautious about trading picks past the next 3 drafts without protections. A trade that doesn't work out, or some significant injury to Dame would mean the Blazers could be trading away a high draft pick or 2. I've said this before, but I don't think Portland should offer the godfather package of picks unless they are getting a consensus top-10 player
I wouldnt say he hasn’t done anything. He’s proven to be a borderline elite defender. And he’s had flashes with the ball in his hands.
I want Lauri Markkanen, 7 foot stretch 4 who shot 40% from 3 sounds better than anything else I can realistically think we will do. Is there no realistic way to grab him? S&T? Dame/Simons CJ/McLemore/CJ2 Norm/Nas/DJJ RoCo/Laurie/Snell Nurk/Zeller Dame CJ Norm RoCo Laurie That ^ would be a good small ball lineup Would DJJ/2nd rounder get the deal done?
Not me. I guess Oubre is in need of the cash. They are a rebuilding team. I think if he kicked ass for us, he could parlay that into a Powell type deal.
I would love to get him. Good ball-handler and a great defender. Not as good as Simmons but a hell of a lot cheaper.
He's had the yips with his shooting last year. Brutal. But he has the ability to regain his form. It would be a good addition. But i don't see RoCo. If he's part of that deal, i like it less. Another 1 step forward, 1 back.
Justise Winslow, UFA (Grizzlies) — Another Houston native, played his trade at St. John’s High. The Athletic understands that Winslow has whittled his list down to a few teams in free agency. Winslow is still a poor shooter but he has the size and defensive versatility to be a nice piece under the right system. He was deployed as a playmaker at times last season and showed glimpses of success there. https://theathletic.com/2752852/2021/08/05/midlevel-maybes-is-kelly-oubre-the-answer-in-houston/
he's missed over 120 games over the last 3 seasons so I'd really want to know what injuries he had looking at his numbers, he looks like a poor man's Evan Turner. I haven't seen that much of him though
