    Schroder, Smart, Brown, Tatum, Williams?

That's the best lineup but doesn't leave a lot for the bench

Pritchard, Richardson, Langford, Millsap, G Williams,Horford, Kanter

    Eh maybe it does

Dame needs to call up Morey and tell him he's never coming to Philly so he will finally trade Simmons.

I keep wondering this: reportedly, Olshey and Morey are friends. And, reportedly, Portland and Philly have been engaged in talks about Simmons. So if Morey is still holding out hope for Dame, might that be because of things Olshey has said in those talks? I mean, if Olshey had simply said that Dame for Simmons would not happen, why would Morey keep waiting for what would never happen?

I know a couple of people have wondered if Morey's insane asking price for Simmons is Morey looking for a return he believes Olshey would accept for Dame. I suppose that's possible, but it's a real stretch

I'm just thinking that if Olshey has closed the door on a Dame trade, Morey wouldn't be hoping for it

Roco, or Nurk? I can see positives from appeasing a Klutch client.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
Olshey may have closed the door on a Lillard deal, but Morey is likely hoping for Lillard to kick the door open himself down the line by demanding a trade.

Haha I still can’t think of how Olshey can look at anyone with a straight face and say the roster got better.

Try to get them to compare it to the 19-20 team?

I would never use that; there should be a little bit of mystery in life.

I am wondering if Rondae might end up being our best bet for a defensive stopper. (on a cheap contract) I understand his offense is horrible, but who is out there who is better defensively? Or who is as good with a better offensive game?

He guards a lot of positions and he could be used primarily as a specialist against certain teams.

I think with our remaining TPMLE money that we might be able to get Patrick Patterson and not only can he defend the post and the PnR on the perimeter, the dude hits the three. He's 32 so a three year deal starting at the rest of the TPMLE ~5M wouldn't be a bad get.

at this point, I'd be kind of surprised if Portland uses the TPMLE before the season starts

Blazers might be reserving that exception for the later-in-the-season buy-out and waiver market

or, more likely?....they are reserving the flexibility to dip under the tax line by the trade deadline to do a major reset of the repeater tax clock. Getting under the line from 1M over is a lot easier than getting under from 6M under

seems to be more urgency with finances than with Dame's desires

I googled both and cherry-picked two opinions. I have no idea if either is correct but....food for thought

    Patrick Patterson:
    https://www.clipsnation.com/2020/11...n-physical-power-forward-three-point-shooting

    Weaknesses:
Patterson doesn’t really do anything on offense other than shoot threes. He has no juice off the bounce and is essentially useless inside the arc, where his diminishing athleticism makes it difficult to even finish at the rim. Therefore, though his spacing has value, his overall impact on offense was negative.

The Clippers found ways for Patterson to be effective on defense by matching him against bulkier forwards and centers because he is not suited to defend in space, at least not at this point in his career. He’s a smart player and a good veteran to have on the bench, but he can’t defend perimeter-oriented bigs, which reduces his utility.
