ya i've been resigned to this for a while now. Unless Simmons suddenly becomes available, I don't see us moving CJ. It's why I've been more interested in finding value for Powell.
I wouldn’t care about holding onto McCollum, it just depends on if Siakam and Simmons move, and if so, what the package looks like. If it’s something similar to what Portland could’ve offered with CJ, I’ll be mad. But there’s nothing wrong with seeing what the team could do under a new coach and an improved supporting cast if those aforementioned players don’t get traded. Most of Olsheys impact trades happen mid season anyway, and the goal is to be better come playoff time, not opening night.
yup. Don't think CJ is going anywhere-- i think the rationale to keep him will be to see if Chauncey can do anything different. which is laughable, but something...
I think it's been increasingly clear that Seattle is not putting pressure on Olshey and will allow him to do what he obviously wants to do, and that's have Billups 'prove' that it was not a roster failing over the last 9 years, but a coaching failure. Magically...no blame for Olshey! but even if you're drinking the kool-aid and thinking a different coach would have guided Portland past Denver in the first round, it would be a major stretch of homerism to imagine the Blazers beating Phoenix. Not with the roster they had. so why will next season be different if they just run it all back?
You could be right, but that would be from a team desparate for at least some talent, like the freakin' Knicks. I like Powell's upside, but not at more that 20 mil.
pretty sure she's his second wife. he had a messy divorce with his first wife https://www.oregonlive.com/portland/2015/07/judge_gives_nic_batums_ex-wife.html https://www.oregonlive.com/lake-oswego/2014/08/trail_blazer_nicolas_batum_fou.html not sure if she's still connected in Portland or if it would affect his decision to potentially come back.
so then, Blazers will be paying 105M year for 3 players 6'3 and under and only 1 all-star. Idiot formula
On the SI article how many times have they been right in terms of Blazers info -- I mean all it said is the Blazers are not going to trade CJ just to trade him DID NOT say they are not OPEN to the idea so take that article with a grain of salt. In fact the article screams LAZY writing as it just assumes basic common sense stuff about this team so even more reason to discount it.
I think it's pretty clear that there is just absolutely no market for CJ. I'm not even sure there is a package to be had around CJ and Harrison Barnes at this point. In my book, if nothing happens with the Dame-CJ backcourt this off season, Neil's failure rests in letting it get to this point, rather than anything he does or doesn't do these next two months.
I think it's more that Neil doesn't want to move him for his actual trade value or can't come to grips with what his true value is. I've mentioned this before, but if Neil goes through this entire off-season without trading a single future first, how can you possibly look Dame in the face and tell him you did everything possible to improve the team?
just wait untill nurk gets that fat 4/100 or even more rich paul will have blazers by the balls, hell take nurk elsewhere, blazers wont have leverage like they had on their last negotiations
