I was dredging through the stats on Zeller, hoping to find something encouraging. Pretty blah, definitely doesn't shoot threes or block shots. Only encouraging thing was 11.7 rebounds per 36 and an ORtg last year of 123.
Like, we need to spend big money, which we don't have, so I sincerely hope we aren't overpaying scrubs or getting hard capped.
Yeah but they had to lay the groundwork to spend so much. They had contracts they could move and cap space. They had a lot of avenues to work through. Neil is playing checkers and Riley's playing chess.
It's possible that Neil's strategy is to wait things out. Some clubs may not have got the free agent guard they wanted today and may now up the ante in a deal for CJ. He doesn't have the full MLE so has to wait until all the full MLE's are used by other clubs and then the guys left are more likely to sign for the tax mle with Portland.
How is it that every team in the farkin' league can find money to sign the players they want - except the Blazers? We are at the very bottom of the league for cap management. And just to be clear - Olshey is the perpetrator here, NOT the victim!
I don't know who is the salary cap expert that works with the Blazers, but they need to be fired since they can't seem to see beyond the next year.
