SOP, man. These moves are so predictable. Just indicative of his unwillingness to finally change it up and take a risk. The Fischer interview where he indicated Neil's continued reluctance to trade CJ for anything short of a slam dunk was the final straw for me, and I've been a defender of this guy.
Dude, we literally have zero idea what’s going on behind closed doors. We all would like to see a trade that makes our roster more balanced, but in the mean time it’s fine to be active in FA. Catastrophizing over these signings makes zero sense, that’s my point.
I agree. But he's probably planning on looking during the season. And when the offers (inevitably) come back unsatisfactory during the season, he'll deal DJJ for a similar but slightly better player and call it a "go for it" move. Then lie to our faces and say there's nothing else we could have done. We lose in the 1st or 2nd round and there goes the Dame era in Portland. *shrug*
Color me unimpressed for signing guys who probably would be playing in China were it not for Neil. Snell's 0.6 ppg in the playoffs is awe-inspiring. These moves don't indicate the sense of urgency we needed to see after the stuff with Dame a week ago.
Yeah, I'm in a place where I'm cool with what was done in free agency as long as there's a blockbuster trade made that sends CJ+ out and brings back an all star forward. It's that simple. We have a bench with a lot of solid, not spectacular players. We have a starting lineup with enough talent to be competitive but the talent doesn't fit together so we'll be very mediocre without a big time move.
Guys I would rather have had than Ben and Snell: Justise Winslow Elfrid Payton Frank Ntilikina Denzel Valentine Wesley Matthews James Ennis III Wayne Ellington E'Twaun Moore Matthew Dellavedova Langston Galloway Tyler Johnson Georges Niang Isaac Bonga Kendrick Nunn Khem Birch Troy Daniels Moritz Wagner Sindarius Thornwell Mike James Shaquille Harrison Tyler Bey Gary Clark Frank Mason III Tremont Waters Nathan Knight Justin Jackson Quinndary Weatherspoon I predicted we'd get Snell (and Felicio) though. Ah well.
I dont see it is stocking guards. Dame CJ simons norm will play. Norm is starting at the 3…. Now you have mcelmore is a 2 only Snell can play the 3 this isn’t stocking for a trade. This is stocking for a shitty team
you two are virtue-signalling patience and logic. And generically, you have a point the counter to that is the history of Olshey's 9 seasons at the helm. And so far, this off-season, looks exactly like so many off-seasons that ended up failures. > Meyers + Harkless for Whiteside....Turner for Bazemore...sign Hezonja & Tolliver...call it a summer > go from Kanter to Zeller....sign McLemore and Snell. Now why exactly should we settle down and wait for a different result this time? Or something much bigger?
I just think it's Olshey, and maybe ownership: 1. players just don't want to play for them 2. FO doesnt believe players will sign and thus dont give it 100% effort 3. FO is incapable, and knows it 4. FO fears rejection and thus goes looking for easy targets 5. FO settles for easy targets, which dont take a lot of negotiation and conviction 6. rinse & repeat
KOC said THJ turned down 4/88 from the Pelicans to return to the Mavs at 4/72. I wonder if the Pelicans shot their shot at Norm as well and were rebuffed.
dude, all we’ve heard is we are standing pat. Dude, Neil has never, on time, taken a swing Dude, he let lamarcus walk for nothing This is the norm. We are getting g a rude awaking that the organization doesn’t care about winning. Anything they’ve done has not shown us otherwise
