Yeah, something like that. Except you're not going to get the chance to draft Jordan at 16. If Chicago, Indiana or Brooklyn had the number one pick II'd hope they would select Embiid, because he has HOF potential, even though they already have Allstars at center. I think it's a little bit different when you get further into the draft. It's like, you go best player available high lottery because you want a transcendent star. You go best player available late first round because you just want a player who will stick. If you're picking in between you're looking for a workhorse and I think you take need into consideration.
My philosophy is a bit different. Draft the best player you can. If he's better than Taj, for example, start him and bring Taj off the bench. Or find a way to play them together. I'd rather have the best player vs. the player who's the best fit. Every time. We do need a big if we amnesty Boozer. Our starting PF, Taj, last season was a 16.4/8.5 guy with a decent 16.0 PER and a so-so shooting pct. (for a PF). Those are PER 36 minute numbers. I assume he'll be about the same and will get 36. Our backup PF will be... Lou Amundson or someone like that. But hey, some PF we draft at 16 or 19 is going to be as good a backup PF as Taj (or Boozer) was for us last season, no doubt!
Hypothetical OT question... If the Bulls had Drexler, Jordan, and Pippen, who'd play what position ? I think Pip at PG and the other two at SG and SF.
Well I would too if truth be said. Just stating if a pg is not of the realm of possibility we need a bigger pg.
Yes always draft the BPA, however, and I really should not do this, but every draft, I always look at the best fit. Then leave my self open for disappointment. Always take the best player, then go find a fit.
