It's been a rough few months. Unemployed since last July, broke my knee in August, no job prospects to speak of until March. Found a job I liked, Lost it two weeks later to a departmental reorganization. Out of unemployment, 401K depleted, and couldn't even land a job as a pizza delivery boy (all openings at six different locations had just been filled). My checking account is overdrawn, and I'm broke to the point of applying for county assistance to pay my rent. I've been battling with some pretty deep depression lately anyway, and my situation certainly hasn't helped. Fast forward to today. I have been offered an entry level laborer position at the paper mill in Halsey, another similar position at a gear manufacturing plant, and this afternoon I was contacted for a second interview for a production clerk position (much better suited to my skill set and to my old guy knees). Still going to need assistance paying my past-due rent, plus I'm really stressing about which opportunity to take but it's sure nice to see that the light at the end of the tunnel might not be a train for once...
Hang in there man. Scratch and claw and get that job. Tides will turn. They always do for the motivated and determined. Just stick with it.
Good luck Wookie! I hope it resolves quickly.....if you need work and the offers don't pan out I suggest working with disabled seniors...they always hire and it's rewarding work if you get the right client. Paid the bills for me after I stopped teaching. You can get certified to do the work with just a 5 hour course and a little online research....when you get home after a shift with someone paralyzed or a stroke victim....your problems all seem to shrink.
I appreciate you Wook. Your sense of humor is second to none, and I observe you as being a kind individual. Like everyone else has said - hang in there. Virtue favors those who carry the light.
I hate quoting myself but I suppose you know that now seeing as you're finally getting the jobs.....ZING #BAMHCPTRICKEDYOUHESNOTHIRING @BlazerWookee
I've been a basket case wondering if and when I would have an opportunity. Now I'm a basket case trying to decide between three of them, lol...
I'm a list maker...pros and cons...get a yellow legal pad and a black pen and put the pros and cons of each choice in 3 columns...let the paper tell you which one is the green light
Hey Wook that's great to hear! I had no idea that you were even out of work. I'm glad to see you've got some options. Just know that whichever company you go with will be lucky to have you.
Welp. I didn't get the high-paying desk job I wanted, I ended up choosing the 8-hour standard shift job 5 minutes away over the higher-paying rotating shift job 40 minutes away. Today was my first day. Looks like it'll be a couple weeks of dirty, oily, physical grunt work before I get moved to one of the machining stations. I can sure tell it's been a long time since I've done anything besided shine a seat with my ass for a living, lol. Thank God for ibuprofen and Tylenol!
