NATE FUNK is by far the freshest name in the history of names! EVER! I will name my next kid this! NATE FUNK LUKROFKA!
So this Tolliver guy (I ain't gonna lie - I've never seen/heard of him) is 6'9", he can shoot the lights out, he rebounds, he plays good defense, he's an intelligent player . . . can somebody tell me why this guy was in the D League? Sounds like he should have been a lottery pick! Why were we awarded a 16th roster spot? I thought that only happened when you were down to 7 healthy guys?
I'm just going to guess, but I'd wager he's a player stuck between two positions (not quick enough to guard threes, and not big enough to guard fours) The D-league and Europe is littered with guys like that. It's a hardship exception, which apparently can be invoked when you lose a fourth player to injury (Mills and Pendergraph don't count since they were injured before the season started) and they are expected to miss more than 3 games. The contract is unguaranteed and when either Nic, Rudy or Travis return to the active roster they have to waive him. If he turns out to be worth keeping then the Blazers will have to either make a 2 for 1 trade or waive Mills.
Yeah but there are tons of guys in the NBA like that. Channing Frye. Matt Bonner. A 6'9" guy who does ONE thing REALLY well usually ends up making a roster somewhere.
Channing is 6'11" and Bonner is a broad 6'10", both big enough (ie strong enough and long enough) to guard fours. This tolliver kid is 6'7" barefoot and 6'8" in shoes. I think you're going to be surprised how short he'll look next to LaMarcus.
Seems like a flex forward, which I think is what the team needs most out of a single roster slot. (If they opened up another roster slot, a true center would be nice.) Aldridge can take minutes at center, but that leaves more PF minutes on the table. A guy who can take PF and SF minutes is most useful, in my opinion. Dunno anything about this guy's game, but he seems to fit the profile.
That would be optimal. The more versatile he is the better so he can fill in at multiple spots. They are going to have an issue though when he steps in and is better than Martell....
Tough to say. Draft express has him listed as a forward-center, so maybe he's more comfortable playing in the post on defense and floats out to the perimeter to take shots? My guess though is that he's going to be more of a practice player than anybody they are going to give PT, unless there's another injury or foul trouble.
The Socialist and Capitalist pigs have thrown communism out of Europe, would be my guess. I think barfo is now only pro-Cuba, North Korea and Albania?
Nope, but it is the article I was referring to in my post in the other thread a few minutes ago. I was talking with my buddy yesterday about how I thought we should call up Tolliver. Looks like KP has a direct line to my computer, considering we drafted Rudy and Batum after I had been championing for them as well. So YES! Glad this happened...he's who I was hoping we'd pick up. Even if he's more of a 4 than a 3, which is what we really need the most. Someone who could swing both spots would be ideal.
Enough about this cat! He is a warm body for practice, that is all! You really think he will play ahead of Juwan or Dante?
