376 good guys with guns and armour wasn't enough? What happened to " Only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun?" I guess it's still true once the shooter is done killing kids....then they come in.
So much for the argument that we can expect the police to help us if a criminal is breaking into the house. Police aren't "good guys", as much as it sucks to say it. This was proven without a doubt in Uvalde. They have no responsibility, obligation, or desire to intervene if you are being attacked. I suggest you make sure you can defend yourself and your family.
I'd allow properly trained school staff to arm themselves. If the staff in Uvalde had that option there would have likely been a lot of lives saved. If I were the parents of these kids I'd be suing the shit out of the state and federal government for forcing me to put my kids in such a dangerous situation. Either allow the staff to defend themselves and the students or get to work making schools impenetrable. Either way, there isn't much I can personally do about the idiotic targets we call gun free zones.
THEY WERE TOO SCARED OF THE 18YO WITH AN AR-15!! The texas Tribune - Police who responded to the Robb elementary shooting told investigators they were cowed by the shooter's military style rifle. THIS drove their decision to wait for a Border patrol SWAT team to engage him, which took more than an hour. Have you seen the Police cam video of the cops coming out of the school throwing up from seeing kids obliterated?
That's stupid. Those cops know full well that an ar-15 is no more dangerous than a hunting rifle. It is a small caliber semi automatic rifle. Literally the same, but lighter caliber than most dear hunters use to hunt Bambi.
Yes. Every employee should be allowed to defend themselves at their place of work if they are properly trained. Unless their place of work can guarantee the safety of everyone in their establishment. *Edit* I actually know of many churches who have trained members who are armed during service. In fact, a year or two ago, one of them actually killed a would be shooter before the shooter killed anybody a year or two ago.
There are actual professionals who train people in self defense for a living. I didn't say cops were bad. I said they can't be trusted to defend us. Uvalde proves that is a fact.
Jesus. We should make some more laws prohibiting stealing cars and guns. Like, better laws. Laws so good that even criminals won't break them.
Right. First of all, if you wanted to stop gun violence, you'd have to make guns magically disappear, not outlaw them. Secondly, even if you could make guns disappear, you deal with the ethical question if the fact that you're removing the ability of people to defend themselves. Which is something enshrined in the constitution for a good reason.
