There’s a type with these school shooters. Middle class, white kids, outcast and they have easy access to guns is kind of the rule.

Yep. Give him life in jail. He got kids killed. Mom should get some punishment for not stopping it as well. Unless she's the victim of DV or something.

Yes. Need to get serious about mental health in schools. Need more mental health workers in schools with more contact with students and helping to direct policy and help educate school staff.

Need more opportunities for education for parents. Need free (in fact pay adults with a tax rebate) parenting, self-defense, and gun safety classes.

We need a shift our social safety net to help more of our people.

Lots of people on Twitter/X are claiming the Georgia shooter is trans because he has long hair.

    Fucking morons.

I wonder about the whole "outcast" part of that, though.

I tend to think that's more of a post-act narrative that's been manifested into a false reality, at least partly because we don't want to acknowledge that a lot of these people are pretty much normal members of American society until they take that next step and go on a shooting spree.

When you delve into this, you find out that most of them had friends and families and there were probably other kids in their class or community that were a lot more detached or introverted or isolated that didn't go this far.

I also think more and more this is a sociological issue than a psychological one. Yes, the latter plays some role, but there are a lot of things about conformity, normalizing and glorifying firearms use, just general casual hate, things that pretty much everyone encounters in some way every day, that I think are bigger triggers than someone having emotional wellness issues.

I was in high school not all too long ago. Teenagers are brutal. These kids all look like the type that weren’t in the “in crowd” and were probably bullied.

Agreed. Just had a daughter graduate and, and teenagers are absolutely brutal. With ignorant parents that often just exacerbate the problem, including when it comes to excluding kids.

Been thinking about this and im wondering what type or amount of mental health help would or will it rake to fix?
If youth are growing up feeling despair based o nthe currently society, what type of mental help will turn that around by the masses?

That's kind of my point, though. You could say anyone and everyone was an outcast. Even the "in-crowd" can have a pecking order.

More health workers in schools for this specific problem. I think you probably need between 5 and 10 armed and trained individuals at school (depending on the number of students in the school, maybe one per 200 students) to reduce the incentive of attacking a "gun free zone" and you probably need at least as many or even maybe double the number of mental health professionals at school interacting with kids everyday. Every student should interact multiple times a day with multiple different mental health professionals. Or teachers with mental health training.

And these things need to be done correctly.

And it will take a very gracious and friendly approach. People shouldn't be afraid that you're going to come and take their kids. They should be welcoming the help that they can get and raising a healthier child to become a more productive adult.

These people should be trained in the kind of help that people can get. They should be able to help guide parents through any additional training or help or daycare or services that are available. And they should be able to help organize services if more are needed.

We shouldn't have a combative relationship between the parents and the schools. If that exists then there's a problem at the school.

And we need somebody to make sure that teachers are held accountable for being a contributing factor for these problems. And educated in ways not to be a contributing factor but rather a part of a solution.

No student should ever be forgotten about or just passed along because they're difficult. There is a reason they're difficult. We should be figuring out what that is and how we can help alleviate that problem.

And teachers should be paid better. Teachers with mental health training should be paid more than the others. As should teachers who are getting the extra training and testing to be armed.

    Just my personal opinion.

Imagine if his ID had been marked by the arresting officer as a matter of policy (hole punch at the time of arrest would work) and it were a felony to sell to anybody without an unmarked ID.

Who would be opposed to the arresting officer or jail marking this guy's ID?

Do you ever read or see one of these and just say or type” Wow, that’s fucked up!” You always have some random idea to fix shit that will never happen.

Just type, “Wow, that’s fucked up!” I just don’t get people that think guns are ok. You have fucking teen kids man.

I’ve shared before….I’ve seen other kids get shot and killed in HS 2 times and then went in the army. I saw more death outside the army than in it! It’s OK to not think guns are cool.

    GUNS ARE NOT COOL!

An utter failure of the system. People like this should not be able to get guns. And, he purchased it same day. This shit needs to be fixed.
