You would guard your keys from your son? Never let them drive the car? Or grab something out of the car? Really? You keep your keys on your person when you're watching TV? When you fall asleep on the couch?

And you don't leave a key for your wife in case she needs to use the gun while you're away from the house? Does she also keep it on her person at all times? Perhaps in her purse on the counter while she's at home?

You never have your kids open your safe? You cautiously guard the combination every time you enter or leave the safe? Even when you do it multiple times per week?

Yeah, sure... If you never use a gun then maybe. But if you use it regularly they will know how to access it.

    What you're suggesting is unreasonable.

Video games don't make people crazy or want to kill people.

He's not old enough to drive. When he is or he if needs to get something out of the car, have the key on a different chain. So, the keys he's using doesn't have that. I would never let my son have a keychain with a key to a gun safe on it. Ever.

Yes, generally my keys are in my pocket. No, why would have my kid open my safe? It's easy to guard a combination.

Stop making excuses for irresponsible parents

I just can't imagine living my life afraid of my children like that. Call it irresponsible if you want. My kids are well adjusted and not a threat to anybody. I'm not going to treat my kids like prisoners in their own house. And I'm certainly not going to do it because of some silly law that would only impact me if you violated my 4th amendment rights or on the .000003% chance that my kid uses my gun to kills somebody.

I get that you feel strongly about this, but pushing laws to make yourself feel better is a slippery slope.

Not afraid at all. Just vigilant. Protecting my kid. Part of being a parent. My son is well adjusted too, but I wouldn't let him have access to a gun.

If there was such a law to hold parents accountable. It's only if their kid takes their gun and kills someone.

But, we can agree to disagree that's fine

I don't think gun control initiatives are what prevents legislation that would help people from passing.

What prevents legislation that would help people from passing is Republicans.

Again, I'm 100% fine with holding these Michigan parents accountable.

But just having access to a gun doesn't make somebody a killer. And if they are a killer you're not going to stop them with a code or a key.

It prevents many people from voting Democrat who otherwise would do so.

This im not so sure of. Children's minds are still growing and learning and if they grow up with such violence, i can see a child's mind mixing real life up. Video games are so detailed with gore these days, and all the movies out there.

Now dont get me wrong. Im not advocating video game or movie restrictions, im advocating better parental-ship, not allowing their childrens’ impressionable minds to be overwhelmed to the point of numbness.
This is why im all for holding the parents accountable for such atrocities. They brought the accused into this world and either neglected to notice issues or purposefully raise children to hate.
Either way, I'm of the opinion parenthood is severely lacking in actual parenting and far too many people having children in this country when they cant even figure themselves out.
How to we ever expect to improve on ourselves if the bulk of those popping out kids aren't even close to fit to be a good parent?
All for educating as much as possible, but if someone takes on the lifelong responsibility to bring a other life into this world, i believe they should own up to that commitment, even if it means radical changes to the new parent’s lifestyle.

Guys don’t forget. America is crazier with more mentally fucked people than any other first world country. It’s in the water maybe, who knows. But when you are born here you have a much higher likelihood of being mentally unstable. The rest of the world isn’t like this. That’s why we have 100x the school shootings. Duh. It’s not the guns.

So the weak, infrequent, and very ineffectual attempts at gun control by Democrats makes people who would otherwise vote for them, instead vote for Republicans?

I'd submit that those people are not thinking rationally.

    They are pretend Democrats

Sinema wants to protect the rich while the coward Manchin doesn't want to do anything that may anger republicans.

Who said anything about weak? It's the strong push that turns people off. They don't have to vote republican to be a problem. A few thousand more gun owners voting for Clinton would have changed the last 5 years immensely.
