okay and we were. Doesn't change the fact the original post was extremely miss leading leaving the reader to think its a bill for any age student or anyone in a school can carry a gun. as far as me being fine with it. If the age is 18 and they passed the required tests, etc. then so be it. in a school? Im on the fence. providing full and detailed information when posting news with a critiquing angle, should always be. Thats my point of contention. For people who scream fake news is a trump thing then to post misleading info to fit a narrative is disingenuous at best.
I'm not going to play semantics with Crandc's post or mine. I know I what I meant. You can go talk to her about her post if you want. No students should ever be allowed to carry guns at school. Regardless. An 18 year wants to get a permit and carry a gun around on his/her own time fine. Not at school. The answer to school shootings is not to arm students.
And like we said, the original post was an extremely generalized blanket statement that was used to sound sensational by omitting context.
It’s not to completely avoid protecting students either. People throw the same tantrums when it’s suggested teachers or principals be allowed to carry.
Wisconsin GOP Proposes Lowering Concealed Carry Age to 18, Allowing Guns on School Grounds Wisconsin Republican lawmakers passed a package of bills through the state's General Assembly Thursday that would expand the rights of gun owners with concealed carry permits, and lower the age necessary to obtain a concealed carry permit from 21 to 18. The other bills would allow those with concealed carry permits to have guns in their car while on school grounds, allow firearms in churches and other places of worship that are also on the grounds of private schools and force the state to honor concealed carry permits from other states, according to the Associated Press. Republicans approving the bills called them a valuable protection of Second Amendment rights, while Democrats in the Assembly said they would only bring more guns into the state and make it more dangerous. "Our Second Amendment rights, those are just critically important to everybody across Wisconsin," Representative Shae Sortwell, chief sponsor for the bill that would lower the concealed carry age, said at a press conference before the legislative session Thursday, the AP reported. "(We want to) make sure that every adult American, whether they are visiting Wisconsin, whether they are living in Wisconsin, has the same rights under the law." https://www.newsweek.com/wisconsin-...y-age-18-allowing-guns-school-grounds-1671399
These guys think it’s ok for guns to be allowed in school? Regardless of training….. it’s a teenager walking around thousands of other teenagers with a gun strapped on em. Jesus Christ how do you defend this!!??
If only they cared about protecting people's lives instead of the dogma they are married to. It's a shame this country is still held back by relics of 18th century thinking. At least they did not put outhouses into the constitution or we would all freeze our asses when we have to pee in the winter.
Deflect all you want I'm focused on the issue at hand. The allowing of any guns in schools by any student, 18 or not is stupid and should not be allowed.
I think guns should be allowed to carry guns to protect themselves from other guns. The best way to stop a bad gun with a gun is a good gun with a gun.
i disagree. If a teacher, councelor or other school admin has taken the courses, etc. then they should also be allowed to carry.
I’ve seen somebody gunned down and murdered at school as a youth. Sorry if I feel there’s no place for guns in the hands of teenagers at schools. Sorry bro.
totally fair assessment. Ive seen fights ar school where im glad a gun wasn't near, or i know it would be used. ive seen two people shot and killed up close. One i knew. Ive had my drummer shot and killed in the back down the street from my home. please understand, as Johnny pointed out the other day, that not everyones reaction or stance is going to be the same. Some will think these are reasons why we should be allowed to defend ourselves. And this is the reason we cant outlaw or heavily restrict gun ownership. Everytime its said no one has an answer, but the reality is this: good people have guns and bad people have guns. Heavily restrict or ban guns and the only people left with them are bad. Sorry but that is not a society i want to live in. how do your MP buddies feel about this topic(gun restrictions in general, not the school issue) ?
I don't think this prevents schools from banning guns does it? I didn't see anything that specifically forced a school's hand.
I think we should actually offer training for teachers who want to carry at school. They should definitely get a psych eval etc, but the right teachers having the ability to defend the students is a good idea, IMO. I'd even offer those teachers an extra $10k per year...
Was that gun there legally and in the possession of a trained, background checked, and permitted citizen?
Hazard pay. Id consider it a must. Or at the very least pay for al rye training and evals etc. So they pay nothing. hey!!! Something we actually agree on!!!!! Lol.
