Well, if they are gonna die, then fine, we can bury their guns with them.

You can't say I'm not willing to compromise!

Yeah, I don't think most people with lives and jobs and kids and shit are really going to do the "I'll die and/or go to jail for my guns" thing.

My opinion of my fellow Americans is going down daily, but I still think most people can make better decisions than that.

I didn't say most people. 10% of people in this country is 35 million.

That's a hell of a lot of people.

That is a lot, but why 10%? Especially since some of those would be infants?

Just a number I tossed out as an example. 5% is a lot as well.

    *Edit*
5% would be over 8x our current prison population....

where did i say only one thing? I asked which you think they care MORE about.

Are you able to answer the question?

Yeah. Make a list. Prioritize it like most everyone does with their wants in their life.
So i ask again, which do you think they worry about More?

Sure, they worry more about whatever it was that you mentioned. Happy now?

But so what? I didn't claim getting shot was the single biggest worry, so I'm not sure what your point is.

Geez….. point is prioritizing worries and what efforts can make the biggest change.

Have you been reading the thread???

The point has been made that the amount of effort to try to control guns could be better exerted on other topics that would have a far bigger positive impact on american lives.

you said people wont have to worry about getting shot.
Im saying people don't worry about that near as much as your statement implied.
Its a nonfactor in the average persons daily stress.

According to the CDC, about 14,500 Americans were murdered with guns in 2017. More than half were young black men killed in metro areas, which has been the pattern for at least the last five years.

It's almost like most of the problem with gun crime is that we have populations of desperate people in our inner cities...

But I guess arguing with Republicans is more important than actually solving problems.

Wonder why people say both sides are the same?

No kidding, imo it starts at the top in each State and City! If they really wanted to have an impact regardless of politics they could.

Yeah, the D solution is fewer guns and more social services. The R solution is more cops and more jails.

    Exactly the same!

    No, it's very obviously not.

They say they want it to get votes, then do the absolute minimum on all fronts, while cashing in on their corporate partnerships and insider trading.

    I don't think they are....

    https://www.statista.com/statistics...eholds-in-the-united-states-owning-a-firearm/
The share of American households owning at least one firearm has remained relatively steady since 1972, hovering between 37 percent and 47 percent. In 2021, about 42 percent of U.S. households had at least one gun in their possession.

How Many Gun Owners in America?
32% of Americans say they personally own a firearm according to the 2021 National Firearms Survey. This means that more than 81.4 million Americans own guns. This number only includes adults over 18. When you include family members who live in their same household as a gun owner, that number jumps to 41% of all Americans. Gallup has this figure estimated at 44% of households.

    How Many Guns in America?
There are estimated to be over 400 million guns in the United States between police, the military, and American civilians. Over 393 Million (Over 98%) of those guns are in civilian hands, the equivalent of 120 firearms per 100 citizens. The average gun owning American has 5 firearms, while nearly 22% of gun owners only have a single firearm.

    Source: 2021 National Firearms Survey
42.2% of all gun owners are women. 57.8% of gun owners are men. According to the Wall Street Journal, previous surveys have shown that for decades, women made up only 10-20% of gun owners.

Digging a little deeper, we find that the demographics of gun owners is changing. According to the 2021 National Firearms Survey, since 2019, nearly half of first time gun buyers are women. In that time, 3.5 million American women became first time firearm owners.

After conducting over 19,000 interviews as part of the 2021 National Firearms Survey, researchers found that the COVID-19 pandemic, the #MeToo movement, and the unrest following the murder of George Floyd have all contributed to increased gun ownership among American women.
