Not nearly as easy as defending yourself against blunt objects or knifes for that matter. Bringing guns into schools, i.e. arming teachers is not a solution. That's the fucking problem. We are beginning to try and normalize the idea of bringing guns into places where they have no place.

I don't know the answer. How many were African American? Asian? Or women? Both can legally Purchase forearms. The reality is that illegal aliens are among the best and brightest and motivated in our society. People like that aren't interested in mass shootings.
Parents need to be held responsible if their kids do this shit. Especially, if their kid gains access to their guns. If parents know they will be held responsible, they will lock that shit up tighter than Fort Knox.
I have guns for hunting, sports, and self defense. And that's not going to change. So engaging in the rest of your questions is unproductive. Guns are here and they are going to be here. Gun rights are expanding in far too many states to get any increases in gun control in our lifetimes. The Supreme Court is also getting ready to restrict states rights to enforce gun control. I'm interested in actually solving the problem. Railing against guns simply can't solve the actual problems.
The problem is that 18 school children were killed. If you think me wanting a solution to avoid that is an emotional response than we are truly at an impasse.

And those same 18 school children could have been killed with any number of weapons. Including the hand gun the shooter was reportedly found with. In fact, if the shooter was only using a handgun the death count may have been higher than with an AR, as hand guns are far more lethal in close in settings. We just don't know enough about what happened yet to know.

No, I keep saying what people are suggesting (like background checks, bans, etc) are useless, and I'm backing that up with links and data. As I have done for years. But nobody can show me any evidence of gun control (like background checks, bans, etc) actually making a significant impact on violent crime, murder rates, or mass shootings. In fact, the numbers I'm able to find dispute that.

We are talking about school shootings. About our children. We are not talking about domestic murders where husband/wife's kill their spouses with a fucking blunt object. We aren't talking about adults killing adults in whatever series of other murders or violence that happen. We are talking about school shootings. Kids buying guns or stealing their parents guns, or getting gifted guns by their parents and using them in mass shootings at schools. We are talking about children dying in schools.
The kid actually had a hand gun on him. From the very first reports. We know he bought some AR15s. We don't know what he used to kill the most. Did you watch the video I posted of the difference between an AR round and the most popular hunting rifle round? Ban the AR and you'll start to get that difference in mass shootings. Tools don't make people murderers. Murderers use the tools available to commit murder.
