I would expect an ovation during the regular season. Not during the playoffs. Every thing changes for the playoffs. No love should be shown to the other team. Period. And the ovation for Brooks was LOUD. Way too loud.
So the answer to my question about AC Green is, yes? AC Green started for the Lakers in the Western Conference Finals and I remember him getting a nice hand. In fact, I gave him one myself. It had no impact on us winning or losing those game either.
Nate - I was in the 100 section too, but more in a corner than the middle. My wife and I both commented that we could not even hear each other talk because it was so loud at points. I agree the arena was champing at the bit ready to explode, but there really were few chances to do that, especially as the game wore on.
You should check out Blazersedge. There is a writeup before the game talking about how comfortable and loose Brooks was during warmups. I don't think the crowd booing him was going to make a difference. AC Green was just as much of a role player and Brooks is. They both started, neither of them were top options, and both of them contributed to some great memories to Oregon universities. It's not like either of those players were getting cheered after each made basket. This comes across as a Beaver fan issue, not a Blazer issue.
I was in the 100 level, and I agree with you. I'm sure the Garden has been louder, but I doubt it's been louder in a 27 point blowout.
I agree 100% and not just because I am a Beaver, but because it is the NBA and the PLAYOFFS. Sure have your fun ducks in the regular season. I still boo brent barry when he rolls to town even in the regular season. I don't cheer for Steven Jackson when the Rams come play my Seahawks. It is dumb. By that logic, duck fans can't like any of the Blazers since noe went to U of O.
I don't know how to explain it. This was my first time in the lower bowl during a playoff game, and from past experience, playoff games have been louder. Maybe it's louder in the 300 level.
Yeah, I hated how Brooks got a loud ovation during the intros. I even went to UO too, but damn.. forget him. This is the fucking playoffs, don't cheer for the enemy. That was just stupid how some fans cheered for him then he proceeded to tear us up.
I've had the pleasure to go to a few games this year in the 100 level. And I actually prefer seeing the games from up top. Obviously the view isn't as good, but I enjoy being around the fans in the 300 level more. There's some crazy ass people and a more diversity of fans in the cheap seats. Makes the game night experience more enjoyable to me.

What are you talking about? I cheer all the former Blazers, Ducks, and Beavers (that I liked) when they get introduced. I don't cheer for them during the game or when they make a good play against the Blazers. No where did I say that the only people I root for have to be former Ducks or Beavers, so I don't understand where you are coming from. Do people really think Aaron Brooks went off because he got a nice hand? I think he went off because Blake couldn't stay in front of him. Yao got booed and he didn't miss a shot all night, so I'm thinking it really doesn't make that much of a difference.
Under the scenario I described based off of what Nate said, here are the two choices: 1) Yao - 6'-8' turnaround shot. 2) Brooks - Uncontested layup. Which would you pick? Obviously we need to find a different defensive strategy that allows us to keep Brooks in front of us and prevents Yao from getting the ball. Simply fronting Yao and defending Brooks with Blake won't cut it.
In the old days, if a small point guard tried to come into the paint, he'd find himself on his ass. I miss the days of Charles Oakley.
I recall the Rockets getting plenty of easy looks, which is why he is average 19ppg against us this season. And when he didn't score, others were getting easy looks. That's why we've lost our last 3 games to the Rockets by a combined 45 points, and each of the last four games have been worse and worse. They know where they have to major advantages, and go to it all game. As I basketball coach, when you have a post player getting fronted, you have two choices. Go to a high low, which requires a good post passer. Or you can get the ball in the hands of a player who can go one-on-one on his defender because the strong-side post defender can't help.
I couldn't agree more with this. I kept YELLING during the game, "drop him next time he comes in to the lane!" But it never happened. One good, hard foul that puts Brooks on his ASS could change things for us. Blazers just have to send a message. They were obviously not prepared for the physicality of playoff basketball. That is the reason I don't blame the refs ONE BIT for last night's loss.
Brooks wasn't our problem when we fronted Yao last game - it was Scola because the rest of the team wasn't rotating right.
