Dang og15 I was gaoing to say that about Wilt. I didn't even notice this topic until today. They changed the rule when Wilt came to the leauge. He used to jump from the free-throw line and dunk the ball. So the leauge changed the rule to make the game more fair. But it's completly illegal to pass the free-throw line while shooting a free-throw. You can only cross the line after th ball reaches the rim.

Im not sure if you're aloud to take a jumpshot or not a the FT line. I think the players just keep their feet planted is because it's alot easier. It's only 15 feet to the basket so you dont really need to jump to take a shot.
Yes you can take a jumpshot, you do not have to keep your feet planted. Remember when the Raptors played the Greek team, and one of their players too a jumpshot on his freethrows?

At the start of the season, Wilt's coach was bragging to everyone that Wilt will avg in the 90s in the FT line, so they were planning it even at the start.
