I have very little income year by year but have some pretty big paydays ever few years. This fucking law has and will cost me dearly. It already has cost me the healthcare coverage I had eared for past work, much more pay and pain to follow. It really pisses me off to see these fellows with no perspective (who also voted for this bastard) with their hand out, without the vision to see how it could effect them or their children someday. I can't move out of the country bro. My money is being made here in California. We are thinking of moving the company to Vegas, to avoid Corporate/Personal State taxes. That saves our company 20% and myself, 11%. But if I am making money in California, I must pay California tax.
Well one thing to remember Mags, it can get worse and it is on that track for certain. In 1977, I lived in Ca, Working for IBM and running a business. I hit the point where I was paying 67% of each dollar earned to the Feds, 11% to California plus 7.5% sales tax, self employment tax, and $5500 a year Property tax. Then to make it all even worse, we had no way to shield and income with 401k contributions and the like. Buckle up my friend, you (we) are on the fast track to return to such a wonderful system one more time.

You can't change your wage brother. The income is still income in the company. We are a S corp. All net profits are distributed to the share holders. If the company has a net of 1 million; the shareholders are taxed earned income for that entire 1 million. We aren't even taking the full net amount. Most is being reinvested.

If the hike in the top rate from 35% to 39.6% costs you an extra $114K, then you must be making somewhere in the neighborhood of $3 million/year. It's a big hike on your income *above $400,000* (or $450k if married filing jointly). If you make less than $400K, you aren't in that tax bracket and don't pay anything additional. barfo
