I was kind of thinking this would lead to southern secession again, and how great it would be for both sides if that happened (assuming we don't want to go to war this time).
This is a benefit, not a cost, to the insurance companies, as they'll be getting premiums from the parents of a poor but very healthy group of individuals. Those two will indeed cost money; on the other hand they are widely popular regulations. People are going to be willing to pay more for this because they know it could be them getting denied coverage next. When you screw the public too vigorously, you get regulated. Not even sure what you are talking about here - what government program? The exchanges? Those will bring more premiums to the insurance companies, not cost them. What charges to the insurance companies? barfo
I doubt that, barfo. If the 26 year-olds were healthy, they'd probably be able to get insurance cheaper on their own than by staying on their parent's plan. I see this as a way for young adults with existing health conditions that would make insurance expensive or unavailable to continue under their parent's plan. Either way, by itself, it's a pretty insignificant factor in the overall cost of this plan.
oooohhhhhhhh SCAAAAAAARY WOOOOOOOORDS I know FOX news works on you, but it doesn't work on all of us.
This country is batshit crazy. It's a wonder anything gets done in this polarized hellhole of a political system we have. 10% of the country is at the other 10%'s throat, and the 80% in the middle just shake their heads and concede that no one's listening to anyone anymore except to their own rabid base cheerleaders. Maybe we should just rescind the results of the Civil War: let all of the conservative bible-thumpers inhabit the South, the tree-hugging granola-eating liberals the West, and the snobby elitist wine-snifters the North. Make three seperate countries, and see how long it takes to devolve into anarchy.
I was reffering to an economic ideology, i never referenced anything about religion or social issues, just economic ideology of the current regime
Dont watch much fox news, just an anti-communist, I immigrated from a country destroyed by communsm to be a part of the greatest country in the world, one that thrived on the american dream and capitalism, where hard work is the difference between me and the next guy
Pretty sure that any healthy 26 year old won't have any problem finding a private plan to cover them. All they have to do is apply and start paying the premiums.
