Re: Mark Hughes not willing to sell Schwarzer to Arsenal [updated]

Not sure he'll be coming to Arsenal either. He won't give us the right leadership we need at the back-four. He isn't a very vocal 'keeper so he won't bring much to the table that way. He isn't very tall for a goalkeeper (only 6') and he isn't aerially dominant, even though it would be more so than Almunia. Then again, that isn't hard. Finally, his age will be a big problem in Arsene's plan. He is obviously looking for a GK who will take up some time until Tex is ready to play. Given is still in his prime and can play at the top level for a lot longer than Schwarzer.

    Just a couple of reasons.

I've heard that he's scheduled to have a medical on Thursday.

I rather have Given then Schwarzer to be fair. Schwarzer is too old and won't improve anymore. We were linked with Akinfeev a couple weeks, he was also pretty good keeper. Another promising GK is Asenjo from Atletico Madrid, but he will cost too much $$$$, but worthy investment.

We have already said no to Given because he's too short and won't give us the leadership we need in the box.

That midget is twice the player Almunia and Flopinsky are.

    Setback in Schwarzer transfer

    FFS! :banghead:

I don't care if it's Schwarzer, I just want a better keeper than Almunia, or Fabianski.

Schwarzer isn't injured by the way. He's been included in the Australian squad for the upcoming internationals.

Plus the keeper at Fulham just got injured so I'm not expecting a transfer to happen. Not that Schwarzer is even that great...
