Hey, no making the players on your team out to be significantly better than they are! That's Blazer fans job!

Actually, that's the job of EVERY teams fans.

Oden, Miller, Martell, Rudy, Bayless, and two future first round picks for
    Paul and Okafor

Could be done anytime under the CBA.

IF LeBron chooses Chicago, what are Cleveland's options?
    1) Let him walk
    2) Facilitate a S&T

They'd do #2 if they want to see LeBron get the MAX $$$ contract possible, which isn't unheard of. Bulls traded Pippen in such a deal, to Houston for basically nothing. And/Or if they want something in return, like a 24 year old SF who'll start for them for the next 6-10 years.

Why? Is there any stipulation of us doing anything before then?
And considering Joel's situation, would any team acquiring him have any reservations of him actually opting out?

BYC deals can be done if the amount of $$$ in/out for both sides is large enough that the BYC difference is in the noise (less than the 125% rule). Even easier if one team has CAP space.

Camby's contract isn't subject to a base year. Only contracts that increase by 20% are subject to it.

If LeBron chooses Portland, we should trade Joel and Andre Miller...what else are they going to do?

Ask for Rose? Pff..you fucking nuts.

Pippen wasn't in his prime at the time, nor was he arguably in the top 3 or 4 of players in the NBA.

If Chicago is the place LeBron wants to go, the Cavs would start bargaining with Derrick Rose first and foremost. Then they'd take on Deng too. And after that, they'd pretty much try their best to get a 3 way trade with another team because that'd be a shit-can trade.

If I were running CLE, and these were my options, I'd let him walk. If I know my team will suck for the near future, I will not bind myself to Deng's horrible contract for a mediocre/marginal upgrade of talent. Also, if #2 was in contention, I'd open up the phones to hear more offers, most of which can potentially trump the one you proposed.

Also, trading Pippen way past his prime =! trading LBJ in the middle of his.

The NBA collective bargaining agreement doesn't allow trades of any players before July 1st if said player has the option to become a free agent.

What on earth makes you think Cleveland has any leverage at all? LeBron can just sign with the Bulls for the MAX they can offer. Cleveland only has the choice of accepting what the Bulls offer, and they can't demand Rose or anyone else. Sheesh.

I don't think that's entirely right. If Joel opts in before July 1st, he no longer has that option, so he can be traded.

When was the last time a superstar FA didn't help orchestrate a S&T with his old team to his new team?

That's a LOT of cheddar to leave off the table, if he doesn't do a S&T.

I was under the impression (I'm sure I'll be corrected if I'm wrong) that the max Chicago can offer Lebron is less than the amount Lebron could get with a sign and trade with Cleveland. So why would Lebron choose less?
