I like that they are going for a young GM in the mold of Presti and .....KP

Strange. IF Quick is correct (big if), PA didn't like that KP basically made rookie mistakes as a GM (wrong turns in negotiation tatics) but wants basically another rookie GM. Doesn't make sense. If he wants an experienced negotiator, hire a GM with experience.

I'm curious if something didn't rub the Vulcans the wrong way during Roy and LA's contract negotiations?

Yeah, no doubt. WTH.. way to endear yourself to the franchise player, who's offering to play ball with you and you turn him down. Ouch.

They want a young up and comer who is desperate for a GM job and will take the bullsht that comes with the Vulcans. Unlike an experienced GM. At least for a couple of years.

Which leads me to believe basketball decisions were on the bottom of the list in terms of why KP was fired.

This also tells me the big name candidates weren't interested. They said they want to do what they did with the Seahawks, but Schneider was like the 4th or 5th guy they wanted. They wanted guys out of Baltimore and the NYG first, but it didn't happen.

Claver needs to learn the politics of the NBA. And I'll tell you what, if they were out at the PF,there is a huge room of gear. At the drop of a dime, he could be completely suited ready to play, so that street clothes excuse is horseshit!

Also, Brandon is probably as tired as I am about fucking Freeland...... Koponan and all these Euros who supposedly can ball. He probably wanted to test him out. I heard when Nic first got over here there was all this talk about Batum's length and defensive ability. I was told that BRoy and Nic went at it big time from day one and Nic didn't back down. That is why Brandon gave him so much praise after that first training camp 2 years ago.

I think Vance implied that PA took KP off the negotiations and KP took credit for handling it. Seems a little weak.

Yeah, I have my doubts we'll ever see Freeland, Koponen or Claver in a Blazer uniform.

Remember, in Europe there just isn't the pickup ball culture. Euro players come up through club systems, not through playing streetball, so it's kind of rare that a player would be a one-on-one fiend. (I think this is less so in France, which seems to be more Americanized.)

Why WAS Claver in town anyway? Was that ever explained?

What was there to handle or take credit for? Allen allegedly didn't want Roy to get max years on a max deal; Pritchard wanted to give Brandon full years on a max deal.

So, after pulling Pritchard off of negotions ... Roy ends up with max contract/max years, except HE has a player option for year 5.

That's worth firing Pritchard over? Whoever negotiated for Allen ended up giving Roy the same guaranteed money that Pritchard was going to give him.

I just realized. Alex's avatar is a pic of KP from the war room during the 06 draft.

    Sigh.
