Thanks to bigkingsfan on CF.net for this clip: The play was Battier stripped the ball away from Kobe in the first quarter, he went to the floor to grab the ball, Kobe landed on top of him and got called for the foul. As Battier was getting up, Kobe seems to elbow him in the head. Battier, the NBA version of the Dalai Lama, doesn't react or complain about it. He just walks away as Kobe stares at him. It should have been a technical, and its the type of rough stuff Kobe routinely gets away with. I hope the league reviews it and hands down the appropriate penalty. You don't elbow a player in the back of the head when they're on the floor like that, face down.
The Dalai Lama is a master of complaints, lol. Hopefully the league will review this and dole out an appropriate punishment, but seeing as how Kobe and the Lakers are the media darlings of the NBA, I doubt the NBA would take action unless the big TV networks make a fuss out of it.
Yeah I saw that and was like "WTF? The refs let him get away with murder!" And the Laker fans are complaining that the Rockets got preferential treatment from the refs...
I was fucking pissed when that happened. And it pissed me off even more when Battier got hit by Vujacic. That was really uneccessary by Kobe, he could've just gotten up normally he didn't have to elbow/push.
It was a dirty play, he should get fined X amount (like he cares? Lol) and should have gotten a technical for it. That was snuggling type of contact, he didn't use the tip of his elbow. Unnecessary but he didn't go Dwight Howard on him. This was Kobe with the mind games thing again. The Sasha incident was unfortunate, obviously I don't want anyone else to win but I don't want people to bleed like that (just for the record :O).
The Rockets let it slide during game 1, but expect retaliation if this shit happens again. The Rockets can beat up LA in fighting and basketball.
The league ain't going to do shit, let's stop kidding ourselves Rockets are going to be walking into a pissed off team that played horrible in game one and shouldn't be thinking about anything other than good basketball. I just don't see LA having another poor game like that Everybody knows Kobe is a cries and the league listens Yao will get fronted and doubled, and the Rockets have yet to figure that out consistently
Shane Battier takes the high road, as usual, even though Kobe clearly gave him a cheap shot: http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/bk/bkn/6409887.html
