Elbow did not go to the head until after initial contact which was made to the chest. Both guys are flying out there. Limbs are gonna move.
They reviewed the call because they were gonna try to eject him and then realized it was a clean hit (despite what mel thinks) but it was too big of a hit for todays NHL so they had to call something.
Watch it again. I put it in slow motion and elbow right to the side of the head. Initial contact no where near his chest
Ryan Reaves says you have no idea what you're talking about. If I had to guess I would say Lindgren's hit could have been called interference because the puck was long gone when he made the hit. It seemed like an elbow to me live from the high angle, the ice level angle looked more shoulder to chest to me. Either way, the penalty was called, its only two minutes and it looks like Rakell is likely done for the game. Kill off the last :40 and it's a trade I'd take ANY day.
Initial contact was NOT to the side of his head. It was to the chest and came up. It’s super quick and initial contact isn’t to head. Follow through did hit the head but not the initial hit.
That was pretty much a textbook hit, maybe a tad late but at that speed it's close. Got him right in the top of the chest.
